Enlightened Listening for August 31

It's the last weekend of the summer and the beats just keep coming. The search for quality content seems to be at its easiest point, as a stroll through Soundcloud (with repost blocker) helps me hone in on my favourite artists. In fact this week features no artists I haven't posted about previously. The newest is Petticoat, who I just included as one of my picks in today's FUXWITHIT Focus Five (here).

As always the Enlightened Listening playlist is curated to flow as well as possible, from light to dark, easy to hard. Paul Mond kicks things off with another brilliant baile flip, before adding bass with Kryojen, MDK and Krafty Kuts. Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: We Are Friends Vol. 7

It's compilation season everyone! It's the time of year slews of singles get packaged together. That might not mean much for best-of releases, but when they're as big and full of new tunes as We Are Friends Vol. 7, you've certainly got something to talk about. This monumental mix of mau5trap runs 23 tracks deep, bringing a list of new favourites from Attlas, Moguai & Tinlicker, Notaker, Rhett among many others. Of course you can trust that I'll be bringing a couple cuts to Bump In The Hump!
While the concerned mau5trap fan might be wondering "why no Rezz?" Take solace in knowing she'll still appear on Bump In The Hump tonight. Adding to the milestone above, AVA just hit 200 releases with Andy Moor, Somna and Diana Leah, and somehow we've got new BLANSH for the 5th week in a row. Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Death From Above - Black History Month (Alan Braxe & Fred Falke Remix)

Instead of teasing with the normal new content (I'm going to leave that all hidden for now), I've instead opted to excite with one part of this episode's Weekend Warmup. As you may already know, Toronto's own Death From Above are playing Friday and Saturday at The Phoenix Concert Theatre (RSVP/Tickets: 1st and 2nd). The duo of Sebastien Grainger and Jesse F. Keeler (also of MSTRKRFT) are coming off the release of their album Outrage! is Now, however once again I'm looking at their older stuff, particularly the awesome duo of Alan Braxe and Fred Falke. I'll be playing their mix of "Black History Month" as the first half of the Weekend Warmup on this episode of Bump In The Hump. Stream below.Also on tonight's episode, I've got a double dose of trance to start, an intoxicating remix of Tiga's "Woke," followed by the absolute brilliance of ASHE and his track "Little King." We then get into deep house and disco vibes, before flipping things into the trap, with bass bangers from the likes of WHIPPED CREAM and Krayysh, followed by a flurry of dubstep. We round things out with the Fire Finale from BLANSH, who graces Bump In The Hump for the third week in a row. Krayysh - Running From Death

To say Krayysh has come on strong in the last few months would be an understatement. After essentially starting from scratch six months ago with "Underthinking Things," he's since released an official remix for Mat Zo and Kill The Noise then proceeded to break brains with the aptly titled 132.86 BPM track, "13286." He returned today with a wild and animalistic release on Mad Zoo. Apparently inspired a dream in which a demon chased him through a forest, "Running From Death" really does depict a chase scene that might fit perfectly in Baby Driver or whatever movie Tom Cruise is running in at the moment. However, I might argue that instead of a demon, it's producers that are chasing Krayysh in an effort to steal his creative juices. The energy is enough to make your brain explode or at least your chest heave involuntarily. But it's not just random dissonant destruction, it's actually quite ingeniously crafted. While the drums pummel, and the synths screech, Krayysh has woven a wicked connection that creates an incredible unease throughout. Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Kill Them With Colour - Diamonds ft. David Spekter

While Toronto's Wes Marsh may have been busy, it's been more than a year since his Kill Them With Colour released an original production. That letup ended this past Friday with the release of "Diamonds," driven by David Spekter on vocals. It's quite clear that KTWC has not lost his stride, forging a feels ridden synthesis of sounds that only intensify the already emotional, yet precise performance by Spekter. Listing all the elements combined here would be a tedious affair, but they all play a integral role in this flawless craft piece. It at once tickles with the cymbal work, while shaking your core with colossal, striding chords. Like it's namesake, this diamond is supremely strong. Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Kill The Zo - Part I (Krayysh Remix)

After a week devoted entirely to house, Bump In The Hump is back with an all new hour of Canadian tunes with just about everything but house. There's dubstep, drum and bass, trap, future bass, techno and this gritty, stomping electro number from Krayysh. After wiping his socials clean and finally reappearing with "Underthinking Things" in March, Toronto's Krayysh is back again with a major splash. Remixing either Kill The Noise or Mat Zo is a tremendous accomplishment, but to be tapped to take on their collaborative effort Kill The Zo's "Part I," is quite the coup. As we saw with his previous production, this one is nearly impossible to define, it's a touch funky, definitely dark and dirty, and shows a strong affinity for futuristic electro feels. Despite its short runtime, it's clear why Kill The Zo's called on Krayysh.As promised above, I've got a host of hard hitting tracks from the likes of Lunice, Rezz, Rene LaVice, Vincent and ANGELZ. Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Honey Beard - Dreamless Sleep

Last week I had the pleasure to play Honey Beard's sensational single "Celestial Bodies" from their debut album Dreamless Sleep. In honour its release this past Friday, I've got another track cue'd up and ready to go tonight on Bump In The Hump, but you'll have to tune in to find out which one makes the cut.
