This week's episode of Bump In The Hump marks the return of My Mixtape and with that comes an interview at the conclusion of each show. Followers of my socials will already know that the first episode/interview feature two of Toronto's busiest house creators and curators, Brock Edwards and RYME. While you can already hear their collaborative EP, the 60th BADLQQK release, Searching For Signal on Soundcloud here, you'll be able to learn more about it and their mix, with a clip of my conversation with Brock and Meech (1/2 of RYME) on tonight's episode as well as through the full, nearly two hour conversation, which is to be uploaded to Mixcloud tomorrow.

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: FUXWITHIT 6 Year Anniversary Party

While I blog on my own here, I also write for my friends over at FUXWITHIT every month or so. When it comes to underground artists making bass, experimental, trap, and more there's no better outlet. They've got a growing list of guest mixes and are always on top things when it comes to premiering new tunes. Folamour - Tapes For The PPL #7

Frenchman Folamour has been on quite the rise lately. His Boiler Room set went viral, his edits are being played everywhere and he just scored a spot in my Top 100 Tracks of 2019 with his recent remix of Les Rita Mitsouko. Between keeping himself busy with a solid tour schedule hitting Europe, Australia and North America (including CODA April 9th), he's taken to Soundcloud to share a new 7th edition of his Tapes For The PPL mix series. Always soulful, funky and downright gorgeous, the organic grooves of this mix are to die for. This nearly hour long edition features some exceptionally cool cuts including some killer riffs via JKriv's rework of William & The Young Five "You Turn Me On" which bleeds beautifully into the lush Lucas Arruda track "Tamba Part 1" before breaking us all down to the Dazz Band's deliriously awesome "Magnetized." Cam'ron - Big Deal

Killa Cam is gearing up for both the release of Purple Haze 2, 15 years after its namesake, and a busy 2020 in which he'll be touring said followup album. In recent weeks his name has been popping up everywhere, first appearing to me via the shocking announcement that he's set to play the intimate confines of Velvet Underground February 28th (see here). In the last few days he's released a trio of tracks, each from the forthcoming album which is set to drop next Friday, December 20th.

Below, the latest and my favourite of the new cuts, "Big Deal" brings some sensational production from The Heatmakerz atop which Cam captivates with his typically strong storytelling and wicked wordplay. While I'll readily admit I've always been slow to rap and hip hop in my life, I'll never grow tired of Cam'ron's presence and his ability to be both powerful and playful at the same time. Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Brock Edwards - Jaded

Over the last few months, Brock Edwards has been unrivaled in his Bump In The Hump appearances. The always busy Toronto talent has not just been DJing all over the place, nor releasing on countless labels, he's also started his own imprint in Thursday Trax. Continuing his trend of industriousness, Brock is set to play his own birthday party at The BLVD in Oshawa Friday alongside his COREKT collaborator Duskope and Etienne Bujold. So with that in mind I'll be giving the b-side of recent Pure Beats Records release, "Jaded" a spin on tonight's episode. Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: FLIX - Bodybag

Having done the last episode of Bump In The Hump on the eve of Halloween, I've since compiled quite the collections of tricks and treats, some of which you'll hear tonight. Standing atop said mountain of mayhem, FLIX's latest release "Bodybag" is a banger through and through. It delivers doom and dread right from the get-go and doubles down on that feeling, becoming even more powerful and preposterous as it goes along.

As steady readers of this blog know, I find myself more on the divine, disco end of the spectrum but it's impossible not to be moved by the freakish quality FLIX has filled "Bodybag" with. And really everyone needs to rage every once in a while, so not only do I always aim to include some raucous tracks like this each week, but also showcase events where such raging is possible. It just so happens that FLIX is in town Friday as part of Never Say Die's label showcase at Revival. The lineup includes Badklaat, Oddprophet, Skullydub and Big D B2B Archon. Hot Chip - Hungry Child

Legendary London outfit Hot Chip have returned with big news. After making waves in recent weeks with a number of shows including an hour long set for BBC's 6 Music Festival (here), they've just announced their first album since 2015's Why Make Sense?. Due out June 21st on Domino Record Co, A Bath Full Of Ecstasy will be the band's seventh studio album. Along with the accompanying tour announcement (see here), Hot Chip have come through with not just a brilliant music video featuring Martin Starr and Milana Vayntrub, but also a couple cuts of sensational lead single "Hungry Child."

It's easy to call this a triumphant return, not just because it's awesome to have Hot Chip back, once again blessing our ears with new music, but because there's quite simply an underlying ecstasy or exultance built into "Hungry Child." The character and quality of their always immaculate craftwork is on full display in both versions. The six minute original is downright divine, slowly yet surely satisfying every bone in your body over the course of the cool, crisp climb. The shorter edit features a rearrangement of the elements into a tighter, more fun focused delivery. Despite the time constraints of this version, Hot Chip's brilliance comes through as they give each element its moment, breathing beautiful into each other. There's no doubt in my mind that "Hungry Child" will be pulling listeners back in for countless repeats as the year goes on and we work towards the release of A Bath Full Of Ecstasy. Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Greg Gow - People Mover EP

Veteran Toronto DJ and producer Greg Gow has been moving people for the better part of two decades, most recently with the three track People Mover EP which came out Monday on Swedish imprint Truesoul. Not only will you hear a cut from said EP on tonight's episode of Bump In The Hump, you can also see him live in person as part of CODA's 5 Year Anniversary Saturday with Carl Craig, Mike Gibbs and Jackie Spade (RSVP/Tickets). Attlas Shares "Luna" Elements and Teases New Storyline Mix Ahead of Tour

Nearing the five year anniversary of ATTLAS' first EP on mau5trap, he just released "the nine synth midi and one piano improv channel [...] used to make Luna," Available via Dropbox here, you can now remake and/or remix the closing track from the sensational Siren EP. Friday night he also teased the long awaited third edition of his Storyline series with a grainy picture posted to his Twitter here. All this comes as he is set to head out on tour with stops in Washington DC, Austin, Montreal, Toronto and more. The Melker Project - Ballin' Oates

No it's not Throwback Thursday, but today I got invited to see Hall & Oates at the Air Canada Centre. So I figured no better time to share one of my favourite projects, that of Scott Melker and his ingenious combination of classics from Fleetwood Mac, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and of course Hall & Oates, with rap, hip hop and RnB. Sadly removed from Soundcloud (but still on Youtube below) the Ballin' Oates project is my favourite with Wu-Tang, T.I., Twista and others adding to the allure that is Hall & Oates.

The classics from Hall & Oates are unmistakable, undeniable and still stand strong despite all the additional instrumentation and vocals, and the first track "Claneater" is a perfect example of that. Pitting Wu-Tang against "Maneater" shows off Melker's masterful recasting, as these are actually not the originals, but completely replayed and remixed versions with additional acapellas. And like with "What You Know? You're Out Of Touch!" the pop perfection of their backing track continues to resonate resplendent despite this trapped out recasting.

The visceral vibrations each of these tracks brings is exactly why I'm so excited to see duo take the stage tonight; there is just some kind of magic that permeates throughout their productions. And again that alchemy comes through in droves as Twista's fearsome flow bounces atop the keys of  "Kiss On My List," as though straight out of Big. These tracks are tremendously fun too, and I don't mean just the production either; part of the fun arises in the names as "Rich Girl Meets Rich Boy" and gets some d's thrown on it. The final track "Melker Can't Go For That" doesn't get any additional vocals, but instead receives a pure remix from the man himself. It further showcases Melker's mindset and dank trapped out delivery, alongside the supremely smooth and sultry original synths. It is the kind of track you could end a set or evening with, sonically laying listeners down easy, tucking them in for the night.

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Chromeo - Juice (Purple Disco Machine Remix)

German groove genius Purple Disco Machine is in Toronto tonight, playing Goldie alongside Nick Fiorucci (RSVP/Tickets). What better time to break out his killer Chromeo cocktail, "Juice." It opens tonight's episode of Bump In The Hump as we once again make our way through the latest and greatest in dance and electronic from across the country. Don your dancing shoes and mix it up.There's more than an hour of house (disco, deep, tech, bass and otherwise), and that's pretty much the norm, but what isn't is the six artists making their Bump In The Hump debuts. There's some really cool stuff from each half of Talal & Zoi, who play Parlour together Saturday with Death On The Balcony (RSVP/Tickets). A couple of classics from Diana Ross and Tears For Fears get retouched by two of our more trusted names in Barry Harris and Jerome Robins, and the new classic from from Loud Luxury gets yet another remix. Plus we get a first play of a forthcoming track from bass house badman Blansh. And yet of course we wind up the two hour extravaganza with a four part grimy dubstep section. A November To Remember

I've spoken/written about it being club season ad nauseam lately, so I'm here put an end to that with one fell swoop. This November is going to be one to remember; as you can see above, there are at least a dozen artists I'll be making my way to the clubs to see. So read along below as I do a quick detailing of the 5 Ws, setting up the massive month of music ahead. NOV 3 - Trippy Turtle w/ Henrik The Artist @ Velvet Underground
November starts off with a bang, with perhaps my most anticipated show of the whole month. I've been waiting for Trippy Turtle to come for years and even more so for Henrik The Artist, who I've gushed over several times on this blog. In my eyes there is no better Jersey Club bootleg artist than Trippy Turtle nor is there a more kawaii chiptune composer than Henrik. Over the past while, I've found my feet more glued to the floor than ever, but I'm confident the craziness that these two will conjure from the speakers will have me back bouncing up and down like I were a teenager again. The Velvet Underground is perhaps the perfect venue for such a wild and wacky show (RSVP/Tickets).

NOV 4 - Great Good Fine OK @ The Garrison
To be honest I can't remember where/when I first heard GGFO, but I do know that the song I first heard, "By My Side," immediately gripped me. Jon Sandler's falsetto vocals are stunningly beautiful and play perfectly with the sublime synth pop construction of their songs. They're funky and groovy and I can't wait for their vibes to wash over me in the comfy confines of The Garrison (RSVP/Tickets).

NOV 11 - RL Grime w/ graves & Kittens @ Danforth Music Hall
Trap titan RL Grime brings his Nova Tour to the big stage, with support from graves and Kittens. Other than TNGHT, no one has made a bigger or longer lasting effect on trap than RL. All evidence (his most recent releases "Era" and Halloween VI) suggests this is going to be absolute madness. Add to the bill rising stars and badasses in their own right, graves and Kittens, and you can see why this is a can't miss event for those that demand the best booty and brain shaking bass (RSVP/Tickets).

NOV 17 - Pete Tong @ UNIUN
Now most people know Pete Tong as the inimitable voice behind BBC Radio One's Essential Mix, but less know about his mixing and production abilities. While he skews more towards baleric, which doesn't really suit Toronto mid-November, he is of course incredibly versatile, dabbling in all things electronic and dance. Even if he breaks out just one of his Classic House orchestral pieces, the trip to UNIUN is well warranted. Expect the atmosphere to be warm, friendly and fun (RSVP/Tickets).

NOV 18 - Mura Masa w/ Lunice @ Danforth Music Hall
Both of these amazing artists dropped their debut albums this year, and both are incredibly well respected in the music sphere, just take a look at the long list of features on either album. While both craft incredibly infectious club tunes, the mix of dirty dusters from Lunice and clean crisp cuts from Mura Masa makes for one of the most magical nights in recent memory. Even though this will be the 3rd time seeing Mura Masa in around a year, this is without a doubt one of my most anticipated shows in that same time frame. These a truly two legends, and an absolute can't miss event (RSVP/Tickets).

NOV 23 - Ekali w/ josh pan & Y2K @ Velvet Underground
This month of madness gets capped off with perhaps the most mayhem one bill can handle. By now you better know about Ekali, and to be fair, I've covered just as much josh pan and Y2K as Ekali on this blog. It is however Ekali's Babylon tour and he's got his own stage production set up, although it will likely have to be scaled back to fit Velvet's smaller stage. And while it's a shame (visually), the intimate atmosphere will only improve the onslaught of energy. Each of these three have dabbled in a diverse range of sounds/styles, so I'm not sure what to expect, except the unexpected (RSVP/Tickets).

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Van She - Idea Of Happiness (Robotaki Remix)

The Weekend Warm-up returns to Bump In The Hump tonight. Each week I'll feature a variety of tracks from shows happening in and around the area the coming weekend. This episode features Robotaki, who brings his double billing tour with Manila Killa to Velvet Underground tomorrow, Oct. 19 (RSVP/Tickets). We've had new Robotaki tracks the past two weeks, so I figured I'd go for the trifecta with his beyond beautiful take on Van She's "Idea Of Happiness." The early release is genre tagged as "excitement" and it is just that. It's jump for joy dance quality and some kind of incredible radiance, as big as the sun, and just as warm. And if it's not the best tease for a weekend, I don't know what is.This weekend also has Chris Lake coming to CODA (RSVP/Tickets), with support from Dombresky, who you'll also hear from in tonight's episode. The two hours of new Canadian electronic music includes the usual fire finale with trap, dubstep, DnB and is capped by a fresh remix of a Deadmau5 classic. Fractal Fantasy Hits Toronto

After unofficially entering club season with TroyBoi two weeks ago, the onslaught of awesome club shows continues as Sinjin Hawke and Zora Jones of Fractal Fantasy fame make their way to Toronto this week. First they'll be at Cooper Cole for a pop up shop & interactive installation Thursday evening (RSVP), then they take to the decks Friday for what promises to be an exceptional show. The location for the show remains a secret to those without tickets, but you can get tickets/details here.

Right from the "Onset" it was clear Sinjin Hawke's album was going to live up to it's lofty title, First Opus. While I'll leave it for my end of year wrap up, there's no question it's on the shortlist for album of the year. The epic journey he was able to craft is one thing, but the fact that it consists nearly entirely of "150 Kanye West Demos," makes the "Wolves" producer's dynamism even that much more inspired. But not only is his album all kinds of awesome, he's been busy working with Zora Jones remixing "Bodak Yellow," linking up for several cuts on Fractal Fantasy compilation Visceral Minds 2, and playing a brilliant, bass heavy and excellent experimental set for Boiler Room. Watch below.

Expect the combination of Jones' stunning sound design and captivating animations to make not just the pop up installation an eye opening experience, but the following set a can't miss affair. Adding to the already awesome bill is Toronto's own Eytan Tobin who never disappoints with his chameleon like abilities to blend into whatever lineup he's on. Just last week he opened for Jonah Baseball and Skylar Spence. So yeah, if you're not sold on any of this I'm not sure what more I can do, because I've been anxiously awaiting this night for months. Both Sinjin and Zora are masters of their crafts and truly have catalogs of nothing but quality. See their socials below and take in Fractal Fantasy this week.

TroyBoi w/ Louis Futon & Slumberjack at Danforth Music Hall

After the unseasonably warm weather the last week or so, the fall shift has finally come. It's even rained for the first time in what seems like all of September (not a complaint). That being said, festival season and the excellent outdoor events that accompany it are all but over (although I'm sure there's several events for Nuit Blanche tomorrow).  And this can only mean one thing, IT'S CLUB SEASON!

It'll be the first fall without our beloved Hoxton, but that just means more and more people will be turning to Velvet Underground and Danforth Music Hall to fill that gaping hole in our hearts. The first of seemingly dozens of can't miss autumn events comes tomorrow night when TroyBoi is set to tear down The Danforth as a part of his Left Is Right tour, in support of his debut album of the same name. Joining him on this stop are Philadelphian Louis Futon and Aussie duo Slumberjack.

Now you'll certainly be aware of Slumberjack if you follow this blog at all, as is the case with TroyBoi, who I've covered a couple times here, but Louis Futon is someone who's yet to find his way onto EFYE. But boy, is he quality and a fantastic fit for this lineup. Just a quick scan of his Soundcloud page shows serious success with powerful poppy productions like "Rewind" which just broke a million. Then there's his alarmingly awesome flip of THEY.'s "U RITE." But if big is what you desire, look no further than the phantasmagorical and feels ridden, future bass track "Wasted On You." First two are available free.While this is a TroyBoi headlining show, I'm actually most excited to see Slumberjack, who I've been waiting to see for several years, each time missing them for some stupid reason or another. After first discovering them through their brilliant bootleg of What So Not "Touched," I then became even more infatuated as they combined with Sable for "Sprinter," before dropping their sensational self-titled EP. And holy crap is "Horus" still hellaciously good. Then they got deliriously deep and emotional with "Open Fire" (as covered here), while still showing some brain battering bass abilities with their "Scary" good remix of Stormzy (once again covered here). Since then they've really taken off with the fiery EP Fracture. So while I'm not sure what to expect from their set, I cannot wait to take it all in.Now for the main course. As if the 11 tracks above weren't enough, how about an epic 20 track album? Yes, that's right. TroyBoi's debut is that big. I mean the man was able to get Ice Cube on a track, so yeah, it's pretty clear this man is making waves. The lead track even puts it more explicitly, as "Bitch I'm Awesome." So if bass bangin', booty swangin' beats are what you desire then TroyBoi is just for you. And you know what? I could list a dozen or more remixes and originals that would solidify this sentiment, but you might as well just start with the single release that is succinctly his style.At last look, tickets were still available, but are said to be in short supply. There's usually some saved up at the box office for those keeners that show up early, but don't take my word as gospel. I'm just a fan, I serve no official capacity. Trippy Turtle Drops 2 Tracks and Announces Tour

Trippy Turtle (the Jersey Club moniker of choice for Lido) has made quite the splash in the last week, dropping original "Animal" last Wednesday, and a collab called "Lettuce" with Soulja Boy, yesterday. Adding to that he's just announced that he'll be heading on what he's calling the "Lettuce Turnip Tour." Starting August 1st in his homeland, he'll head through the UK, Germany, all across the states and end up in Toronto and Montreal, the first weekend of November. My WayHome Plan Of Attack

As I'm sure you know by now, I'm headed to Burl's Creek for WayHome Music and Arts Festival. I had mentioned that you can make your own schedule on the WayHome site here. Unfortunately that custom schedule doesn't allow you to include the Perrier Greenhouse, where I'll be spending multiple hours each day. So I decided to make my own custom schedule. See each day below, make note of the/my start times, and the conflicts in red on Friday. I'll be live tweeting much of the weekend, and hope to do a bit of a live blog each day, here.
