Nick Bike - In The Mix @ Serato Brooklyn

I've been touting Nick Bike and his edits a bunch over the last few months but this 15 minute session live at Serato in Brooklyn offers the best visuals of why he's such a force to be reckoned with when it comes to the wheels of steel. He makes his way from under 100 BPM to over 130 BPM and sprinkles in the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snoop Dogg, Cardi B and DJ Funk. It's a pleasure to watch him work and just as fulfilling to enjoy his blends and quick cuts. His genius shines through early on as the acapella of LL Cool J kick in atop Rick James' "Mary Jane" proving he's here to do work. Later on, the run of "Gin & Juice" with "Ms. Jackson" to "King Kunta" is enough to get you out of your seat. Once you're up there, your jaw will fall to the floor as he brilliantly blends Jurassic 5's "In The House" with DJ Funk's "House The Groove." Finally you'll pass right out when you find out how well Cardi's verse on "I Like It" fits on top of "Fergalicious." Bless you Nick Bike, we are not worthy! Enjoy now below.

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: RUMPUS - Drum Machine EP

Westwood strikes again. This time it's their X sub-label that brings back drummer, DJ and producer RUMPUS for a two track EP in Drum Machine. Whether a drum machine is actually used or not, RUMPUS' prowess with percussion is on full display, and maybe even moreso, the two track affair showcases his sick synth work offering up wicked wobs and banging bass. Both cuts are killer, but you'll have to wait until Bump In The Hump hits the airwaves tonight to find out which one gets in the mix. However you can easily satiate yourself by streaming Drum Machine below or downloading it free.Summer certainly seems to be in full swing as last week we looked ahead to 11 different events and while it's nearly impossible to match that, there are indeed seven events to showcase this week. It'll be busy as we look ahead to Dreams, a rare Boiler Room appearance and a special event from the Nice Crew (click through to see events), as well as enjoy some banging house built around RUMPUS. There's the returns of both Internet Daughter and Kraysh, another taste of Bensley's Muskoka album, an exceptional cut from Chrizpy Chriz's Retrieving Light EP and even a remix of Snow's "Informer." All that and more live from 7-9 PM EDT via Radio Humber or after the fact as cataloged on Mixcloud here.

Madge - Fight Or Flight Club (Blu DeTiger Remix)

Last week Blu DeTiger became the third artist in as many weeks to take on Madge's debut track "Fight Or Flight Club." The NYC bassist and DJ really let her riffs rock out front and centre in this fantastically funky and fat remix. Like the name of the track, the sound itself is almost oppositional playing primarily through the bolstered bass and sparkling synth-led top end. That said its got plenty of punctuation in the middle with wonderful effects from the heavy panting breaths that seemingly evolve into the percussion to the tickling toms and bongos. A smart production through and through, "Fight Or Flight Club" is assuredly a summer party starter and you can make it your own with stream/download here.FOLLOW MADGE: FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER

The Knocks & Kah-Lo - Awa Ni (That's Us)

Nigerian vocalist Kah-Lo seems to be everywhere lately; rising with Riton, delivering with Diplo, now she's bringing the hype to The Knocks new track "Awa Ni" which roughly translates to "That's Us" in her native Yoruba. The saucy summer-tinged track features sax and a number of African flavoured instruments and is sure to have you swaying. As with nearly all of The Knocks' productions this too enjoys an undeniable groove only made possible by the life and love B-Roc and JPatt always bring to their tracks. And it's abundantly clear that the three work well together as "Awa Ni" is an incredibly slick production. Add it to your summer playlist now here and enjoy the Soundcloud stream below.FOLLOW THE KNOCKS: FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER

Enlightened Listening for June 21

For the longest day of the year we've got one of the longest editions of Enlightened Listening, clocking in at over 7 hours with an astounding 81 tracks. It opens with four exceptional albums including two we've been building up to here in Hot Chip's eccentric electronic odyssey A Bath Full Of Ecstasy and Mark Ronson's masterful pop presentation Late Night Feelings. Both share singles that I've been rinsing out like crazy and are instant inclusions in the album of the year conversation. Those two are joined by the final and gut wrenching end of Cassius, Dreems, and Shinichiro Yokota's delightful collection of dance joints I Know You Like It. Those four account for 48 tracks and without question some of the best pieces of music (vocally, lyrically, sonically, melodically, etc) you'll hear all year.

There is no let down following those massive albums however, as The Niceguys follow with a fourpack of uplifting funk from Westwood Recordings. Staying grooving but building towards bigger numbers, Rudimental and The Martinez Brothers combine for a magical piece in Faith Mussa-aided energy in "Sitigawana." Another exceptional collab follows in the fantastical feels of Lane 8 and Yotto's "I / Y."

Even more epic we go as Pryda offers up the kind of extended, intoxicating genius we've grown to expect from one of the world's most trusted names. The lead track "Illumination" is truly inspired, however the other five tracks are no mere tag-alongs as each holds the same Pryda power.

After what seems like forever we finally have 1) new music from Afterlife and 2) the Ae:ther ID I'd been waiting on since Afterlife Voyage 013. The 20 track compilation once again proves Afterlife is perhaps the pinnacle of top notch techno. Adding another legend to this already epic list, The Chemical Brothers share a sensational dub version of "Eve Of Destruction." Staying dark and bass driven, Poppy comes in next with a desolate and dire number in "Choke." Finally we close the playlist with a trio of takes on Duke Dumont's "Red Light Green Light," which will have you dancing all the way through the weekend. Stream all the new tracks below and find individual released linked after the playlist. Enjoy!

Hot Chip - A Bath Full Of Ecstasy

Cassius - Dreems

Shinichiro Yokota - I Know You Like It

Mark Ronson - Late Night Feelings

The Niceguys - Sunset Avenue

Rudimental & The Martinez Brothers - Sitigawana (ft. Faith Mussa)

Lane 8 & Yotto - I / Y

Pryda - PRYDA 15 VOL I

Various Artists - Realm Of Consciousness Pt. IV

The Chemical Brothers - Eve Of Dubstruction

Poppy - Choke

Duke Dumont ft. Shaun Ross - Red Light Green Light (For Club Play Only, Pt 6 / Remixes)

RIP Philippe Zdar

You likely know by now, as news broke late last night, one of electronic dance music's most influential people has passed. Philippe Cerboneschi, more widely known as Philippe Zdar, fell from a building in Paris, dying at age 52. However, his presence will remain with us forever. A true pioneer, he was perhaps best known for his part in the duo Cassius, but his masterful mixing skills and undeniable ear sent his musical fingerprints in seemingly infinite directions. His production credits range from Franz Ferdinand and Kanye West to Chromeo and Phoenix. And while his time on this plane of existence is complete, we can expect more new music from him as two albums lay in wait for tomorrow as he contributed to Hot Chip's A Bathful Of Ecstasy and indeed Cassius' first album in three years, Dreems.

While waiting for those final bits to be released, I did a little Throwback Thursday by retracing some of my favourite Zdar in the playlist below. I'll leave you with that, encourage you to read an insightful piece from Laura Snapes on The Guardian here, and, if you feel compelled, do some digging of your own - the reach of Philippe Zdar is, as I said, seemingly infinite. RIP Philippe, thanks for everything...

Mark Ronson - Pieces Of Us (ft. King Princess)

The masterful Mark Ronson remains on an incredible run of sensational singles from forthcoming album Late Night Feelings (due out Friday). Today he released a new one with yet another wonderful feature, this time tapping Mikaela Straus aka King Princess. As intoxicating and gorgeous as its predecessors, "Pieces Of Us" is an instant and obvious hit. King Princess reigns right from the get-go, beckoning us into the soulful synth-scape. Sweet swoons and beautiful builds snap as the percussion and bass burst in shortly after the minute mark, forcing you onto the dance-floor to enjoy the funky fun. No matter which way you cut it, "Pieces Of Us" is a stunning success - catchy lyrics, incredible atmosphere, sensual sound design, pure pop prowess. And if the past is any indication, we can count on it getting more than a few fantastic remixes. Start off your week right with stream/download here.FOLLOW MARK RONSON: FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER

Enlightened Listening for June 14

We've got an awesome summery edition of Enlightened Listening this week. There's some funky grooves, divine disco, heavenly house and more! We start with Pat Lok's Corazón, which features some easy going, glitzy and glamorous numbers. It is then followed by the final track from The Kount and falcxne's fantastically funky REFLEX EP. After that Hayden James comes through with an absolutely divine debut album, building upon the success of some recent singles. It is an instant entrant in the best album of 2019 debate, so do not miss this one.

Taking a bit of a turn, we enter into an section of extended, epic cuts starting with the latest from All Day I Dream, which is some of the coolest, at times acoustic, techno I've ever come across. This is followed by Serge Devant's "It's Like That" which includes a fantastically fitting take from Sébastien Léger.

Changing gears again, we turn towards intoxicating dance numbers starting with Rex The Dog's black hole banger "Vortex." Following that is Annie Mac's Hottest Record In The World, the ingenious Elderbrook track "How Do You." The always awesome Low Steppa then comes through with a supremely satisfying remix of Phil Fuldner. As if that weren't enough disco for you, Moullinex delivers an epic 11 minute explosion of energy in "CLUB COTTON." As with above, the next two tracks offer up some of the coolest sound design and overall production I've ever heard. First Gorgon City stun with a mix of brilliant highs and wickedly licentious lows. Then the combination of Tommie Sunshine and INDO build through a very summery track only to pull the rug out from underneath you, delivering delirium with their incredibly nutty effects. Finally, DJ Zinc unleashes his Crackhouse, Vol. 3 LP with 10 tracks that can only come from the mind of the legendary DJ and producer. Enjoy it all new below!

Pat Lok - Corazón

The Kount & falxcne - Workin' Up A Sweat

Hayden James - Between Us

PADRE & Oe - Sweet Transport

Serge Devant - It's Like That

Rex The Dog - Vortex

Elderbrook - How Do You

Phil Fuldner - Take Me (Low Steppa Remix)

Moullinex - CLUB COTTON

Local Dialect - Poseidon (Gorgon City Remix)

Tommie Sunshine & INDO - Make You Feel

DJ Zinc - Crackhouse, Vol. 3

Underground System - Just A Place (Remixes)

This past week Brooklyn-based Underground System offered up a six pack of remixes of their groovy track "Just A Place." Stacked with the likes of Soul Clap, Greg Wilson and Gerd Janson, it is an all-star lineup no doubt.

Janson bookends the EP with opposing mixes, the first being more expansive and extraterrestrial, while the closing "Drum Remix" takes a more terrestrial, driving direction. The nearly seven minute opening track is exactly the kind of quality we've come to expect from Janson who lays down not just a brilliant bassline, but sensational synth work atop the blistering bongos. Further to the magic inherent in his productions, he once again perfectly straddles the line between nostalgic and fresh feels.

Second up in the legendary list of remixers is quite literally a group of all-stars in the foursome that is the Sol Power All-Stars. The Washington residents have whipped up an unstoppable workout that is sure to keep your feet moving as the occasionally squelching synths have your heart skipping a beat. Just as likely to produce palpitations, the Peter Matson edit heaves with heavy bass riffs. It is at once the most true to the original mix, but also the one most likely to make you go bananas on the dance-floor, ultimately illustrating the power of a quality club edit.

After invoking the word legend above, it really doesn't get much more legendary than crafting a killer mix with your son, which is the case here with father Greg and son Che. The two combine for an absolutely fantastic seven minute session that is sure to leave you swooning. The dope drum-line opening is reminiscent of the classic Greg Wilson edits of yesteryear and does indeed follow in the direction of those timeless craftworks, slowly adding and removing elements until ecstasy is achieved. With more than enough interplay, movement and acidic energy, this stands out as my favourite offering of the EP.

Entering the eleventh hour, Soul Clap and Midnight Magic match wits to melt your own. At times dirty, distorted and even unholy, their remix, like some of the others, plays perfectly with, and leans into, the lyrics. As though inhaling laughing gas as your press play, the track gets weirder and weirder as it goes, ultimately leaving you wondering what you just listened to. Perfect for your final listen of the night.

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: The Players Association - Turn The Music Up (Hi Cheu Edit)

The level of output Nick Bike brings to the music world is simply outrageous. Somehow he's able to balance a consistent diet of monthly radio shows and international touring with DJ-friendly edits, more 'original' reworks and indeed original releases. In the last month alone he's flipped a dozen or more tracks including Prince's "Kiss" with Adam Doubleyou, SZA's "Broken Clocks" with Floetic, and most recently he released a pair of Hi Cheu edits with Case Bloom, with the latter including a take on The Players Association's 1979 classic "Turn The Music Up." A staple of disco sets for decades, the original's quality is undeniable, but leave it to the bicycle to give it a new life including a full and fresh bass-line from Paul Defiglia. Find stream and download below and catch it on Bump In The Hump tonight.Joining the disco classic is Daphni's take on Paradise's "Sizzlin' Hot," a couple jackin house joints from Spacedisco and A-Trak's take on The Magician. Of course it's not all about disco or disco-adjacent tracks however, as there's a handful of DnB, midtempo and bass tracks as we make our way to the fire finale. It is another jam packed episode of power, so tune in live from 7-9 PM EDT via Radio Humber or catch it after the fact as cataloged on Mixcloud here.

Nero x 1788-L - Etude vs Rinzler (Primary Being Rework)

The current explosion of electro-inspired midtempo and dubstep could not have happened without the likes of Nero laying the groundwork years ago, so it only makes sense that the pairing of those legends with the incredibly hot 1788-L would work wonders. Apocalyptic annihilation and dread-inducing destruction rule the roost in Sydney's Primary Being's rework, which combines Nero's "Etude" and 1788-L's take on Daft Punk's "Rinzler." As seems to be the case with so many of the tunes coming out of this sonic sphere, the image of a dystopian future is immediately apparent and that is most definitely the case here. The picture painted is full of fiery action, rife with robotic overlords, and overflowing with acid rain. But enough about the visuals and more about Primary Being's combination of the two killer cuts. Nearly seamlessly spun together, this reconstituted double dose of destruction goes back and forth between the two bangers, as though Nero and 1788-L were firing missiles at each other, leaving nothing but scorched earth in their wake. Sound In Noise - Cowards

The lead track from Estonian producer Sound In Noise's just released Shapes, Pt. 1 EP has been making massive waves since the beginning of this month. Premiered by René LaVice and given multiple rewinds on Andy C's recent Essential Mix (as recorded live at XOYO), "Cowards" has both the stamps of approval and the incredible quality necessary to make it a weapon in any DnB set.

From the ominous first note and spine-tingling build that sounds like the battle horns of the Uruk-hai horde, it's clear that this track is a cold-blooded killer. However unlike the sheer brutish force of said unholy scourge, "Cowards" commands an exceptional skill in slicing up its enemies with precise percussion atop brooding bass and pernicious progression. That said, it does indeed inspire fear and will surely leave listeners shaking in their boots as the storm of snares approach. Unleash the onslaught that is "Cowards" and find the full Shapes, Pt. 1 EP, out now on RAM Recordshere.FOLLOW SOUND IN NOISE: FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER

Enlightened Listening for June 9

This week's Enlightened Listening features a foursome of dance ready EPs, two dope disco singles and a trio of turnt up bass house numbers. We start with the wandering spirit of Sébastien Léger in his Skadi EP which features two equally epic magic and meandering singles along with a remix from Tim Green that fits the mood perfectly. Next up KiNK works with wife Rachel Row for the sensational "To Love You," which truly illustrates Piano Power, whereas the following two tracks are slightly more power than piano, but remain equally alluring. After that come four takes on the incredible "In My Arms," mostly of the more downtempo, chill variety save for Qubiko's club friendly force.

Turning to singles now, Dimitri From Paris and Cotonete reunite to remix the Dimitri produced Izo FitzRoy track "I Want Magic." Electric and magical, it features the fun and playfulness that this pairing always offers. Staying with heavenly horns and divine disco, Daphni has put his touch on Paradise's 1981 track "Sizzling Hot" which leads an EP due out July 19th. Moving laterally, we get a trio of remixes of The Magician's "Ready To Love," including a glitzy disco take from Mercer.

Finally we get to the fire finale of this playlist with Noizu and Eli Brown kicking things off with thumping groove number in "Inside My Head." Shift K3Y follows that up with another fantastically fiery flow which merges Night Bass and UKF in "Nightline." Closing out this collection is another unreal collaboration featuring DJ Zinc and Chris Lorenzo. The two combine for a jaw-dropping joint whose power is sure to send any dance-floor into fits. Enjoy all the exceptional new music now below.

Sébastien Léger - Skadi

KiNK - Piano Power

Ferreck Dawn & Robosonic ft. Nikki Ambers - In My Arms (Remixes)

Daphni - Sizzling (ft. Paradise)

The Magician - Ready To Love (The Remixes)

Noizu & Eli Brown - Inside My Head

Shift K3Y - Nightline

DJ Zinc x Chris Lorenzo - Conditioning

Big Wild - City Of Sound (Alex Metric Remix)

Big Wild have teased their forthcoming four track Superdream remix package with the legendary Alex Metric's take on "City Of Sound." The always in demand Metric has once again delivered a stunning seven minute slice of dance delirium.

Following in the same steps as his recent Parcels, more classic Foals remixes and throwback Open Your Eyes (Remixes & Productions) album, this latest shows off diligent dynamics, brilliant bass, incredibly catchy craft-work and magnificent movement. In fact, there's at least a couple bits in "City Of Sound" that would suggest that it is a spiritual relative to both his massive original "Open Your Eyes" with Steve Angello and the aforementioned "Mountain At My Gates" remix. The rebuilds (or initial build as it were in "Open Your Eyes") deliver the same kind of sweep you off your feet movement and ease into ecstasy, as well as the same kind of stabbing synths.

That said, it would be unfair to characterize "City Of Sound" as a simple cookie cutter track, but should instead be considered as a part of the awesome evolution of output that makes Alex Metric one of the world's most trusted and well respected producers. As a fan, it delivers every element that I've come to expect from the master and in essence plays out like a fresh mix of some of my favourite tracks from his killer catalog. Stream below and get it now as part of the Superdream remix package here.

Golden Features - Worship (Madeaux Remix)

The masterful Madeaux just followed up his "Black Magic Woman" with a ritualistic remix of Golden Features "Worship." An unholy, ominous feeling oozes from the get-go and is perfectly paired with the dark vocals and lurid low end. The whole track is murky and moody with each element delivering a dark, foreboding feeling. This is especially evident in Madeaux's treatment of the vocals which are almost drawn out or excised like a Dementor's kiss, leaving the speaker devoid of a soul, hauntingly hollow. "Worship" has become further warped with witchcraft, moving it from the future of the original to a dimly lit, distant past. I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I could easily see this working wonders in a horror film, especially of the found footage supernatural variety, even if it were just a fan made trailer. R.O.S.H. - Perhaps I Would

Twin Turbo remains one of the world's most reliable labels and the ceaseless cheekiness in their press releases never disappoints. While they propose R.O.S.H. is "probably British and also an alien," they were at least half right as R.O.S.H.'s own Soundcloud and linked RA page identify him as UK-based Roshan Chauhan, who further describes himself as making "techno your mum would like." This also seems to be a valid statement as while his tracks thump with the power associated with techno, there is an undeniable emotional, human heart at its core. As I dig through R.O.S.H.'s catalog, that theme of warmth and comfort contrasts the oft cold and emotionless face of techno. And as we return to the lead track from his Start New Life EP, due out June 28th, "Perhaps I Would" plays out like the dawn of life. It bubbles like primordial soup and with each burst of gas a new element is added to the colourful alien environment. This ever evolving production is bold, beautiful, and truly captivating, and I'm incredibly excited to see how R.O.S.H. completes the rest of this soundtrack-esque EP. Enlightened Listening for June 2

Once again I'm late with this week's Enlightened Listening but it turned out for the best as it now includes Jai Paul. THAT'S RIGHT, JAI PAUL IS BACK! He leads the playlist with a double b-side of brilliance. Following that is the fantastically funky and highly anticipated LP from The Kount that had me floored with "Yesterday's Gain." Next up is Myd with another funk number, this time remixing Charlotte Gainsbourg. After that comes three consecutive killer vocal performances from Kaleena Zanders, Melba Moore and Kariya. As if that trio weren't enough to leave you heaving in ecstasy, how about another taste of Hot Chip's A Bath Full Of Ecstasy in the engrossing excellence of "Melody Of Love."

Moving towards techno comes a trio of remixes of RÜFÜS DU SOL's "Underwater," which is followed by EMERCIVE's latest and double shot of Booka Shade. Changing gears, Drainpuppet comes through with an epic 17 track album in Bliss. Turning dark and heavy, Falcons follows that up with a wicked remix of his classic "Aquafina." A couple of bangers follow in The Bloody Beetroots and Dr. Fresch's "Fkn Face," which is what you'll be making when you hear Trentino's remix of "Hustler." As if this list of legends weren't enough, Dog Blood come through with an exceptional EP in Turn Off The Lights, which is followed by an equally wild and twisted release in Wilted Woman's debut on Phantasy Sound.
