Enlightened Listening for June 11

We keep creeping closer to summer, and this week's releases would seem to reflect those rising temperatures and longer days. This week's Enlightened Listening opens with an absolutely gorgeous album from Folamour that seems to have no weak spots whatsoever. An incredible accomplishment. Two awesome singles follow that as we continue with funky feels and organic grooves. A second highlight follows those singles as Jessie Ware caps her Platinum Edition of What's Your Pleasure? with two more incredible offerings. Next up is perhaps the most gorgeous jewel of them all, a breathtaking Brothers Macklovitch take on my favourite track from Tchami's Year Zero. Turning the tempo up a couple notches, two duo-made percussion-driven EPs follow with wicked tracks on each Oh and The Limit. My favourite of the three TroyBoi tracks to drop today then leads us into a couple cool, house singles before Hidden Face's brilliant Need U EP on This Never Happened. Finally, we throw caution to the wind as we end with the epic power of ARTBAT's remix of Röyksopp. Dig in now below. Enjoy!

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Defunk - Can't Buy Me (The Remixes)

Yes, I know it's Tuesday, but being the crazy days before the whole world breaks down for the holidays, I figured I'd get a jump on 2018's last new episode of Bump In The Hump. Fresh (and free) from Westwood Recordings are a trio of remixes of Defunk's "Can't Buy Me," one of which will work its way into the mix tomorrow. Stream below and place your bets as to which banger makes the cut.Being the final new episode of the year, I've got a couple special treats in store, but don't expect a full review of the year (that's coming next week). This episode will indeed follow the standard format with a few looks ahead to the weekend, with events from the Jungle Funk crew, Kill Them With Colour and a special Kawaii Leonard Soundclash (cute beats vs rap vocals). Being the end of the year, there's also a handful of tracks from year end, celebratory compilations including multiples from LuckyMe's Advent Calendar. Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Kill Them With Colour - Coastal EP

Summer is clearly in full swing as we've had some scorchers lately. Just in time comes an island breeze in the form of Kill Them With Colour's brilliant 5 track Coastal EP. Our appetites were whet after the lead single and title track premiered on the first of June, now the full fivesome is all ours and quenches our thirst wonderfully. Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Kill Them With Colour - Diamonds ft. David Spekter

While Toronto's Wes Marsh may have been busy, it's been more than a year since his Kill Them With Colour released an original production. That letup ended this past Friday with the release of "Diamonds," driven by David Spekter on vocals. It's quite clear that KTWC has not lost his stride, forging a feels ridden synthesis of sounds that only intensify the already emotional, yet precise performance by Spekter. Listing all the elements combined here would be a tedious affair, but they all play a integral role in this flawless craft piece. It at once tickles with the cymbal work, while shaking your core with colossal, striding chords. Like it's namesake, this diamond is supremely strong. As Heard Canada Day Long Weekend

Of course this past weekend was a special celebration across the country, and while I did get out and about, I only made my way to one event: Tracking w/ Mikey Palermo, Maddmon and SL.Y at Dundas Video. The music from these three (and Riggadale, Kill Them With Colour, and Booshay, who also spun) made for an awesome party. My shazam was working overtime to try to pick up the titanic tracklist they dropped, and while there were a number that I missed, I compiled the rest in this playlist.

Note it starts with Maddmon, then proceeds through Mikey Palermo (who played with Booshay as Bout It), and ends with SL.Y and others in a massive B2B jam session. The last track "Addicted To My Ex" didn't appear at Dundas Video but on my iPod via shuffle and I felt like just I had to include it.

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Orbiter - Want You

My love for Stephen Walking has been well documented on Bump In The Hump, but it's been a while since we had any new music from him. That's finally changed, as he's surprised us with a new duo called Orbiter with 7 Minutes Dead. If you thought it was a long time between Stephen Walking releases, that's nothing compared to the hiatus for 7 Minutes Dead who breaks his 2 year silence with "Want You." Since both are Monstercat mainstays it's no surprise that's where we find their first release. Their partnership too seems like a obvious match, as both delve into epic stories with wild instrumentation and exceptional energy. Their almost cinematic approach comes to full effect as Orbiter, depicting a dark neo-future landscape. Still, love survives and stands strong with "Want You." Joining Orbiter tonight on Radio Humber, are new tracks from aiwake, Kill Them With Colour, and friends of the show, Loud Luxury.
