Enlightened Listening for April 9

Another Friday means another edition of Enlightened Listening. This week's new music playlist opens with CFCF's incredible ride, memoryland, whose lead single, "Life Is Perfecto," has been one of my favourite tracks of the year so far. Immediately following that are a couple of captivating singles from Tor and Overmono, the former being gentle, gorgeous and organic, while the latter launches our playlist into space. Staying in the stars, Booka Shade and Bontan come together for galactic cruiser, St. Kilda Nights. Bringing in some tension, Solomun shows off his deft touch with "The Center Will Not Hold."

Breaking the levy, we get a couple exhilarating offerings from Nikki Nair and Dropwizz, both of whom delivers a unique, inspired rush. Taking us into our final section of house/disco/pop, I've selected the closing cut from OCULA's Closer To The Edge EP, "Nevermore," a beautiful, groovy and uplifting affair. Working with grooves for the first time in a while, ANGELZ samples some CeeLo for fabulous "Inspheration." While it's not a cover of the same-named song from the Jungle Book as I'd hoped, Hammer's I Wanna Be Like You does indeed deliver a couple instances of dance-ready nostalgia. Finally, closing out the playlist is another pair of singles, in our first taste of Jayda G's forthcoming DJ-Kicks LP, ahead of the fabulous and funky finale from Petticoat.

Charli XCX - No Angel (Petticoat Remix)

After a run of five fabulous originals in a row, Petticoat is back on the remix wagon taking on Charli XCX and "No Angel." Always on the pop side of electronic, this turn is his most accessible production to date, and not just because of Charli's charming presence. Whereas his previous productions have been more future bass and trap oriented, "No Angel" takes a more stripped down delivery that oozes with an anthemic rush. Perfectly paired with the original synth-pop structure and the PC Music feel, Petticoat's new bed is incredibly effervescent, effortlessly cool and stunningly shimmering. This contrasts Charli's earnest lyrics, beautifully building a two tiered soundscape, one of vice and virtue. Real and resplendent, I fully expect "No Angel" to draw more eyes to Petticoat, as it's unbelievable that he's below 200 Soundcloud followers. Say hi to Petticoat below and check out the rest of his lush library.FOLLOW PETTICOAT: FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER

Enlightened Listening for August 31

It's the last weekend of the summer and the beats just keep coming. The search for quality content seems to be at its easiest point, as a stroll through Soundcloud (with repost blocker) helps me hone in on my favourite artists. In fact this week features no artists I haven't posted about previously. The newest is Petticoat, who I just included as one of my picks in today's FUXWITHIT Focus Five (here).

As always the Enlightened Listening playlist is curated to flow as well as possible, from light to dark, easy to hard. Paul Mond kicks things off with another brilliant baile flip, before adding bass with Kryojen, MDK and Krafty Kuts. They are then followed by house with STUND, Crowd Control and Ryan Shepherd offering up some grooves. Things then get crazy with the final four fire tracks from AGLORY, Krayysh, Dropwizz and ZABO. Grab the free downloads below and enjoy your long weekend!
