Finally we close the night with a clip of my interview with GIRV (who calls Pusher his dream collab), ahead of his episode of My Mixtape this Saturday. Tune in for all this and more live from 7-9 PM EDT via Radio Humber or find it after the fact, cataloged on Mixcloud here.

Throwback Thursday: RYME Interview & BADLQQK Remixed
For this installment in my Throwback Thursday series, I take a look back at the duo RYME, aka Meech and Rynecologist, and the huge leaps and bounds they've taken with their label BADLQQK. About 10 months ago, my partner in crime for Electronic Impressions, Christian Kwamie and I had RYME in studio to chat about their lives as DJs, producers and all around awesome Toronto artists.
While the topic of their BADLQQK collective came up, I doubt any of us had any inkling just what it would become. Now after six original EP releases from Slowbody, Cosella, Fearz, Craig Williams, KMRT and of course the duo themselves, they are set to drop a massive five track remix EP, April 19th on Beatport/worldwide May 3rd. After having the Fearz remix of their track "Cockfight" premiered by the one and only Anna Lunoe on her Beats1 show (listen here), the duo have released the full streams of each remix on BADLQQK's soundcloud page below.
Since then RYME have teamed up with Toronto outfit Euphoradio dropping a 60 minute mix that serves as an excellent entree ahead of their April 23rd set at The Hoxton alongside Justin Jay, for which you can buy tickets, here.

Throwback Thursday: Sandro Silva & Anjiro Rijo - Fifty What (Dem Slackers Remix)
For this week's installment in my Throwback Thursday series, it's with great pleasure that I reintroduce the world to one of the heaviest, grimiest, bass-jacking, insanity-inspiring, electro house remixes ever, courtesy Dem Slackers, who transformed Sandro Silva and Anjiro Rijo's "Fifty What," into a legitimate barn-burner. I first came across "Fifty What,"when Fake Blood dropped it way back in 2010 at the massive three room affair Digital Future at Sound Academy (which I've mentioned before). I haven't been able to spot myself in the video (below) but I'm sure I'm right up at the front losing my mind as Fake Blood absolutely massacred the crowd. The whistle in the second drop is one of my friends who became well known for that antic. I've since seen Fake Blood drop it at least two separate times, each of which the incredible atmosphere of "Fifty What" transforms the crowd into an undead army under FB's spell. Most times his crowd interaction with this track is perhaps the most awesome I've seen, miming a fisherman, casting a line and reeling us in to the back and forth rhythm of the sub-harmonics. Also in the video you may notice locals, Rynecologist and photographer, thesupermaniak.
Whether used in a set or played in full by itself on your iPod, Dem Slackers delivered a nearly perfect production. Putting most of the original elements Sandro Silva and Anjiro Rijo laid out to good use. The combination of the incredible low end and driving percussion propels the remix into an entirely new stratosphere. Both of the drops remain two of my favourites of all time, in part because of their slight yet inalienable differences; the first for its almost shotgun quality, cocking and firing out the subharmonic death knell, while the second has the additional bongos (added so ingeniously after everything but the flute is cut), it leans on a more complex and playful drum fill before the inescapable madness of the now modified drop. When first introducing my parents to electronic music they often thought much along the lines of Randy Marsh, that the drops sounded like farts, and "Fifty What" is the best example of this. My mom often referred to it as the fart song, and while the drop may induce incontinence with its brown note bassline, its overall power remains unmatched.

Throwback Thursday: Cassius - I < 3 U SO (Bowski Remix)
For this week's installment of my Throwback Thursday series, it gives me great pleasure to reintroduce the world to one of the most creatively crafted, fine tuned, floor throbbing, ever increasing intensity remixes, courtesy of Bowski, it's the Cassius' track "I <3 U SO" featuring vocals from Tom Cowcher.
I first heard this classic Bowski track, in Rynecologist's Still Thinking Muckmix pt. III (full mix here). Surrounded by some of the best bloghaus and a masterful mashup of Roxy Music's "More Than This" with Shadow Dancer's "Parallax," I <3 U SO builds so beautifully out of the restrained and subdued Bryan Ferry track. Its percussion slowly pushes the mix, progressing once again into an automated existence. The combination of the organic, lyrical beauty with the factory formed repetition, paints the picture of a world where life and love are one and the same, inextricably tied. The inescapable magic of Bowski's version combines the heavily structured progression, through it's many waves and processes as though it were some kind of musical Rube Goldberg machine. It's movement is unavoidable, pulsating bass work, winding and vibrating drum fills, and electronic effects combine to covertly gain control of your heart-rate. I'll always have fond memories of working in the Provincial Park using a leaf blower to clean campsites, day after day enjoying Rynecologist's mix, in large part to his track choices but also his ever so smooth mixing.

AC Slater, RYME & Cosella, Night Bass At The Hoxton
Last night, The Hoxton played host to a crazy party combining the forces of two bass heavy labels, BADLQQK and Night Bass. Cosella, part of the BADLQQK collective, took over the decks just as I arrived shortly after 11. Being the crafty local talent that he is, he started his set off with a cheeky remix of Drake's "Hotline Bling" with a female singer rather than the six god. But that wasn't the only remix of a local pop star. He also dropped his own edit of Chris Lake's bootleg mix of The Weeknd, "Can't Feel My Face." I'm with RYME on this one, really hope he uploads it, unfortunately Chris Lake hasn't even uploaded his version so it's doubtful, but we can still hope.
@S91McInnis @RYMEonRYME unfortunately probably not gonna come out ! It was my edit of it

@cosellamusic @S91McInnis upload your edit brooo
— R Y M E (@RYMEonRYME) November 29, 2015
Cosella did an incredible job filling up the dance-floor and getting the crowd active. He played just the right mixture of old and new tracks, constantly working them over with filters and other knobs. I specifically remember him playing the Tom Staar remix of Dansson & Marlon Hoffstadt "Shake That," and his release on BADLQQK, "Elevator," which got people so hyped a fight broke out. However, the standout track for me, was a forthcoming one from Eyes Everywhere, that I'll be watching out for.

Being a hectic week in finishing up the semester's classes, CFBU experienced a leak in the on air room adding to the week of craziness and thus the show could not go on. But be assured Oggie James will be back with a vengeance tomorrow evening (April 13th) at 6PM sharp!
This week Oggie has some special treats including a world exclusive, and first radio run from The French Nobility, and the a-side of his new EP The Royal Standard. More Rynecologist, Boys Noize, Gesaffelstein, Congorock, Boy 8-Bit and Carte Blanche.

Tracklist EFYE Debut
This is the debut show in which Oggie James is able to use his own material, this will be the case from now on. Tune in TODAY from 6-7 to hear some great electronic tracks from the likes of Tiga, Azari & III, Autoerotique, Tommy Trash, Skream, The Prototypes and a special gem from the new duo of Foamo and RackNRuin; Gorgon City featuring excellent vocals by Janai. Also don't miss the amount of weight behind canadian talents Rynecologist and Felix Cartal's collaboration with the Belgian Keatch on their EP Animals. Finally I have to make note of the absolutely massive nature of, Raf Rundell and Joe Goddard (Hot Chip) as, The 2 Bears' debut album Be Strong.

Hiatus
The program is currently on a brief hiatus for two reasons; one, while it seeks official status at CFBU, and two, because the station and it's volunteers are busy with the student union's referendum. Once it does achieve official status, the show will permanently move to Friday evenings from 6-7. Host, Oggie James will be able to play a much wider range of music to enlighten your ears. The show will heavily feature new and classic tracks from the following artists: Boy 8-Bit, The 2 Bears, Tiga, Fake Blood, A-Trak, Felix Cartal, Skream, Netsky, Booka Shade, Bowski, Azari & III, Nero, Sebastien Leger, Gesaffelstein, Brodinski, Foamo, Jacques Greene, The Prototypes, Rynecologist, Tommy Trash, Jack Beats, SBTRKT, Clouds, NT89, Jokers Of The Scene, Style Of Eye, Alex Metric, Boys Noize, Erol Alkan, Benga, Skrillex and many more.
We will update you on any updates we get concerning the show's status.
