Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Konka - Corsette

Showcasing west coast talent as well as anyone Westwood Recordings and their X imprint released a new compilation a couple weeks back with X's Vol. 5. We've already heard a few cuts from the comp on Bump In The Hump, but my favourite Konka's "Corsette" finally finds a home in this week's all new episode. Part of an extended run of bangers, Konka unleashes a brilliant blend of brass and bass amidst a storm of percussion. "Corsette" becomes a real bump and grind affair after its initial drop, inspiring its listeners to hit something. As though a theme made for Red Bull's Crashed Ice, the ominous opening, closing and bridging sections set the scene as the skaters take their marks before diving into chaos and crushed bones as the drops (and the skaters) hit. Stream "Corsette" below and catch it in the mix live from 7-9 PM EDT on Radio Humber or after the fact as cataloged on Mixcloud.

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: RUMPUS - Drum Machine EP

Westwood strikes again. This time it's their X sub-label that brings back drummer, DJ and producer RUMPUS for a two track EP in Drum Machine. Whether a drum machine is actually used or not, RUMPUS' prowess with percussion is on full display, and maybe even moreso, the two track affair showcases his sick synth work offering up wicked wobs and banging bass. Both cuts are killer, but you'll have to wait until Bump In The Hump hits the airwaves tonight to find out which one gets in the mix. However you can easily satiate yourself by streaming Drum Machine below or downloading it free.Summer certainly seems to be in full swing as last week we looked ahead to 11 different events and while it's nearly impossible to match that, there are indeed seven events to showcase this week. It'll be busy as we look ahead to Dreams, a rare Boiler Room appearance and a special event from the Nice Crew (click through to see events), as well as enjoy some banging house built around RUMPUS. There's the returns of both Internet Daughter and Kraysh, another taste of Bensley's Muskoka album, an exceptional cut from Chrizpy Chriz's Retrieving Light EP and even a remix of Snow's "Informer." All that and more live from 7-9 PM EDT via Radio Humber or after the fact as cataloged on Mixcloud here.

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Defunk - Can't Buy Me (The Remixes)

Yes, I know it's Tuesday, but being the crazy days before the whole world breaks down for the holidays, I figured I'd get a jump on 2018's last new episode of Bump In The Hump. Fresh (and free) from Westwood Recordings are a trio of remixes of Defunk's "Can't Buy Me," one of which will work its way into the mix tomorrow. Stream below and place your bets as to which banger makes the cut.Being the final new episode of the year, I've got a couple special treats in store, but don't expect a full review of the year (that's coming next week). This episode will indeed follow the standard format with a few looks ahead to the weekend, with events from the Jungle Funk crew, Kill Them With Colour and a special Kawaii Leonard Soundclash (cute beats vs rap vocals). Being the end of the year, there's also a handful of tracks from year end, celebratory compilations including multiples from LuckyMe's Advent Calendar. Of course there's also the Fire Finale, so you can trust your holidays will get off to a scorching start. As always listen live from 7-9 PM EST via Radio Humber or after the fact on Mixcloud here.

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Diana Boss - Two To Nine EP

Over the past few months there's been one label that's appeared on Bump In The Hump more often than any other, Westwood Recordings. As has been the case in recent weeks there's multiple Westwood releases on tonight's episode, including the Radio Humber debut of Vancouver duo Diana Boss. Their Two To Nine EP, fresh on sub-label Westwood X, features a couple killer groove driven house tracks, with vocals from Giorgi Holiday and Ava King. Stream below, grab the whole EP free here and tune into Bump In The Hump live tonight from 7-9 PM EDT to hear a cut from it in the mix. Also out now on Westwood, one of my most anticipated releases of the year, Kotek's mix of The Funk Hunters "Say Something." There's a bunch of funky bass tunes joining these two aforementioned tracks including Conro, PINEO, Kayliox and a disco mix of Drake. Barry Harris once again graces us with a brilliant bootleg, plus we get the long awaited return of IDGVF. Finally there's no shortage of fire as we take to TenGraphs' Cult Of The Rippers Part 3 for a second time, punch things up with Pigeon Hole's Noise Parade and launch into the abyss with Sam Lamar. As above, listen live from 7-9 PM EDT or after the fact cataloged via Mixcloud.

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Stickybuds - Take A Stand

Sonic diversity is a point of pride on Bump In The Hump, so when an artist releases an album that includes funk, reggae, DnB, glitch hop and more, we pay attention. That's the case with Kelowna's Stickybuds and his debut full length Take A Stand. The theme of rebellion and the fight for freedom runs strong through the 9 track arc whether literally, through Burro Banton, Blackout JA, and Rubi Dan or figuratively, through the unwillingness to be nailed down to one genre. Get in on the uprising with Take A Stand via Westwood Recordings and catch a track on Bump In The Hump tonight from 7-9 EDT!Of course the diversity continues with disco, house, wave, bass, club, trap, midtempo, and more. But there's also another strong theme, that of exploration and discovery. Bump In The Hump rarely goes a week without debuting a new artist, but this week is chalk full. Eight Canadian producers grace the airwaves tonight, a night in which we get a clip of my conversation with Classy Vlassy who discusses Soundcloud and its importance for discovery ahead of his episode of My Mixtape.

FUXWITHIT co-founder Colin Vlasak and I chatted for more than an hour Monday night, talking all things electronic music, blogging and the underground, and so much more. Check back here for the final full cut of said conversation available before the mix Saturday. Until then catch two hours of new music live on Radio Humber from 7-9 PM EDT here or after the fact via Mixcloud here.

Sparkee x PINEO & LOEB - Feel It

It's not often something perfect falls in your lap, but that's what happened today as I became introduced to a trio of Canadian talents, dabbling with perhaps my favourite vibe at the moment. "Feel It" comes from Westwood Recordings and brings together Halifax's Sparkee, PINEO & LOEB for some nu-disco.

You may have already heard of Sparkee who recently gained some notoriety around his "technically impossible" bassline, found and described as such by Deadmau5 in his remix of "Strobe." Or maybe you've seen PINEO & LOEB around as they've shared stages with the likes of Autoerotique, Botnek and Zeds Dead among others. Yet even if this is your first time hearing of these three, it's abundantly clear the funk lies deep in their bones. They bring an incredible amount of life and heaps of heart to this beastly bump all night kind of tune. And best of all its entirely unhinged and unabashed in its fearlessly fun delivery, explicitly so with the voice over saying "Sparkee with the big balls." Stream below, download here and catch it in an all new episode of Bump In The Hump, Wednesday from 7-9 PM.FOLLOW SPARKEE: FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER
