Enlightened Listening for April 16

It's Friday and I'm busy as all hell, but that doesn't mean I can skip the weekly tradition of Enlightened Listening. However, I will forgo any specific shoutouts save for the godly Gaspard Augé offering "Force Majeure," the lead single from the Justice co-founder's forthcoming album. Apart from that, the playlist opens with some easygoing, emotional stuff, moves through heavier, funkier stuff and ends with a bunch of DnB. Stream the playlist below and find each of the individual releases linked at the bottom.

London Grammar - Californian Soil

ATTLAS - Long Ride Home (ft. Oliver Wickham)

Bob Moses - Griffith

Doorstep Rebellion - Float Point

Franky Rizardo & Joe Goddard - No Judgement (Kölsch Remix)

Innellea - It's Us

Sam Gellaitry - Duo

Gaspard Augé - Force Majeure

A. G. Cook - Oh Yeah (Caroline Polachek Remix)

Jon Tho & flowanastasia - Awakening

Incandescent - Constellation

NC-17 - Most Violent Year Part 1

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Enloc - Blind (ft. Sam Key)

Each week I'm astonished at how much new music I have to pare down for each episode of Bump In The Hump. Even more astounding is that each week I've got a handful of DnB bangers ready for airplay, something that almost never happened before the genre's boom in the last year or so. Seemingly the hot bed for DnB in the country, Toronto plays home to the likes of Bensley, Incandescent, NC-17 and Tyr Kohout, who along with Enloc all appear in tonight's episode. Just over a week ago, the latter released the first track from his forthcoming debut EP Chronos. "Blind" featuring Sam Key is a gritty guitar led joint that melds metal and jungle along with a sprinkle of psychedelics. In fact I as I write this, I just finally realized that both the guitar and the overall atmosphere here reminds me of Infected Mushroom, specifically "None Of This Is Real." A powerful track regardless of its comparables, "Blind" finishes the DnB flurry on Bump In The Hump tonight, live from 7-9 PM EDT on Radio Humber, and can be downloaded absolutely free below. Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: KROY - OPINEL

After blessing us with beautiful banger "Rain" alongside Apashe, Montreal's KROY is back and black as ever. New original "OPINEL" is a potent piece of noir pop that is sure to get your skin crawling. Just as in "Rain," KROY's vocals swirl above a brilliantly built and haunting bed that blurs the line between electronic and organic instrumentation. Each track presents an incredibly vivid albeit aphotic scene, one with the bewitching KROY at its core. Get "OPINEL" via Bandcamp below and hear it in the mix on Bump In The Hump tonight live from 7-9 PM EDT on Radio Humber alongside new tracks from NC-17, Apashe, Cozway and others. Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: NC-17 - Scrub City / History Of Violence

The theme of DnB's surge in popularity in 2020 continues on Bump In The Hump today as the bar is once again raised with more than a handful of driving cuts on tonight's episode. Toronto's René LaVice isn't the only talent from the 6ix showing off his DnB dexterity as NC-17 has two new tracks on Program. Equally banging and striking soundscapes, one of these two will sit at the heart of tonight's mix as Bump In The Hump dives into a dark future, full of destruction, disorder and despair. Get a taste now below, listen live from 7-9 PM EDT via Radio Humber or after the fact on Mixcloud here.FOLLOW NC-17: FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Weekend Warmup

Miami Music Week is over and DJs are now free to play elsewhere making for a busy weekend here in the 6ix. There's seven events which we will showcase this week on Bump In The Hump. Find them all below with asterisks indicating the artists heard in the episode. Also, click through to get info/RSVP.

FRIDAY APRIL 5th

Megalodon w/ Foss B2B BassX, Beddy Whyte & Matt Doe* @ Velvet Underground

Christoph w/ Andrew McDonnell* & Chuck Woodward @ CODA

SATURDAY APRIL 6th

Beau Travail: Ciel B2B Jacques Greene* @ Bambii's

Felix Da Housecat w/ Nick Holder* & Johnny Lopez @ ONE LOFT

Pendulum (DJ Set) w/ NC-17* & Remedy @ Revival

No Neon: Noizu w/ Hunter Siegel & Colin Thomas* @ CODA

Vice* w/ Jed Harper & Stokes The MC @ REBEL

After seemingly warming up the vibes for the last few weeks, Bump In The Hump turns exceedingly dark with more than an hour of DnB, midtempo, dubstep, and trap. Of course there's still a few bright and beautiful numbers, including the latest awe-inspiring remix from ATTLAS, but by and large, it will be brooding and bass driven. Listen live from 7-9 PM EDT on Radio Humber or find it cataloged after the fact via Mixcloud here.
