Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Cajmere - The Percolator (Hesk Remix)

After a week between new episodes of Bump In The Hump there's no shortage of quality content in this special season premiere episode. It is jam packed with several artists we've been following closely from the beginning of this journey, as well as some new names that are more than worth monitoring. Not necessarily a new name, but one that's made a comeback is local footwork veteran Hesk. Earlier this year he released a hundred (yes, 100!) tracks from his epic catalog for free here, but that was just the start. Yesterday he upped that to 101 with his 160 BPM remix of Cajmere classic "The Percolator." Further, he's got an EP called My Jeep on the way and is celebrating its release with a free party at Edenhall Friday with support from SL.Y, Eytan Tobin, Walmer Convenience, Fil Jackson and Riggadale, RSVP here. Hit the perk below, grab it free here, and catch it in the mix tonight from 7-9 EDT.

I've already teased several tracks including Monday's post of "The Ultimate Warlord," which means you'll hear some disco. There's also a hearty helping of house, a dollop of DnB, a meal of midtempo, and a touch of trap and techno before we close things out with a look ahead to My Mixtape courtesy a clip of my conversation with ASHE. Don't miss out on all of this good good whole wheat Canadian craftwork with two all new hours of Bump In The Hump on Radio Humber. Listen live from 7-9 PM EDT here or catch it after the fact, cataloged on Mixcloud here.

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Weekend Warmup

The beauty of this city is that the party never stops. After showcasing several events last week in what I thought was a special circumstance thanks to St. Patrick's Day, there's just as many great shows this weekend. So once again as a teaser for tonight's episode of Bump In The Hump I'd like to draw your attention to six shows happening in the area this weekend, with links to the Facebook events, and highlight those artists I'll be playing with an asterisk, all below.

THURSDAY March 22

Mura Masa* (DJ Set) @ CODA w/ The Range and Shagabond

Brasstracks* w/ S'natra @ Velvet Underground

FRIDAY March 23

Boombox Cartel* w/ Manzone & Strong @ UNIUN for #FactoryFridays

SATURDAY March 24

Amelie Lens w/ Jeremy Stott*, AADJA & Tim Shannon @ Warehouse Location TBA

Disc. with BodyWorks and Riggadale* @ Dundas Video

BlackGummy MESOPHASE TOUR w/ Attlas* @ Club 77

Tonight's episode of Bump In The Hump will help you get warmed up for the weekend ahead with music from these artists and more of the best new tunes from across the country. Whereas last week hit hard with house, and there's still some of it tonight, the focus shifts more towards a club feel. There's funk and groove, a ton of trap, future bass and wave, and a strong sampling of DnB and dubstep. You can catch all the action live from 7-9 PM EDT via Radio Humber or after the fact via Mixcloud here.

As Heard Canada Day Long Weekend

Of course this past weekend was a special celebration across the country, and while I did get out and about, I only made my way to one event: Tracking w/ Mikey Palermo, Maddmon and SL.Y at Dundas Video. The music from these three (and Riggadale, Kill Them With Colour, and Booshay, who also spun) made for an awesome party. My shazam was working overtime to try to pick up the titanic tracklist they dropped, and while there were a number that I missed, I compiled the rest in this playlist.

Note it starts with Maddmon, then proceeds through Mikey Palermo (who played with Booshay as Bout It), and ends with SL.Y and others in a massive B2B jam session. The last track "Addicted To My Ex" didn't appear at Dundas Video but on my iPod via shuffle and I felt like just I had to include it.

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Basecamp - Ghostown (aiwake Remix)

Yesterday a remix of Basecamp's track "Ghostown" arrived in my inbox, but the remixer was one I was entirely unfamiliar with, aiwake. Since it is their first release there's almost no other information out there. However, I did my usual digging which has led me to some hypotheses.

Their soundcloud account is following only three others, Riggadale, Orphan Jr. and themightyberz, so perhaps they are somehow associated. It might also be valuable to note that both Orphan Jr. and Riggadale have blacked out profile pictures, the same as aiwake. themightyberz's soundcloud and facebook URLs both use the same phrase "almost art" as the track's genre tag, leading me to believe all three of the accounts are involved with aiwake. The final piece of information from their account that may be some kind of clue is the date "02/21/17."

Still what that means is beyond me, although my best guess is that something will be revealed that Tuesday in February. Will it be another remix? An EP? A concert date? Or maybe just a further reveal as to who aiwake is. Regardless, I'll be playing aiwake's touching and emotionally aware first release tonight on Bump In The Hump, which you can download free, here. Tonight's episode also includes an exclusive premiere from Fahjah, once again working with Mees Van Den Berg, Shaun Frank's VIP mix of "Let You Get Away," and three tracks honouring Saturday the 21st as one of the busiest night's in Toronto club history with A-Trak, Autoerotique and Frustra all spinning sets. Rounding out the episode is my conversation with Meech from RYME, ahead of their set for My Mixtape, airing Friday the 27th at 11 PM EST. Stream tonight's episode live from 6-7 PM EST, here.

Riggadale - Cuddle Season 5

Toronto's own Riggadale, graced us with the fifth installment of his Cuddle Season mix series. This one is delivered in perfect timing for the immanent snowstorm, for which hunkering down, wrapping yourself in a blanket and cuddling with your significant other has become a necessity.
Riggadale's half hour of down-tempo vibes are sure to warm the soul. Incredibly smooth mixing and smart track selection make this Cuddle Season installment a mesmerizing masterpiece. With the necessary nod to the 6ix god, Drake, in his "Change Locations," and inescapably awesome remixes from Snakehips and Shlohmo of Flight Facilities "Heart Attack" and Lianne La Havas "Forget," respectively, Riggadale delivers a mix deserving of comparison to Ta-ku's now infamous "Drive Slow, Homie"mix series. Whether it was a conscious nod to Ta-ku or not, the inclusion of Stwo's "Haunted" with the line "Drive slow" is simple perfection. Whether it's the delightful Darius track "Helios," Lido's touching take on Alessia Cara's "Here" or the ingenious inclusion of "How Deep Is Your Love" a cappella, Riggadale has crafted a magical mix, worthy of countless repetitions.
