Florentine - WIND ME UP
First appearing on Soundcloud in April of 2016 (at least as far as what's still online), a mysterious producer by the name of Florentine began to gain traction with a tropical future bass remix of Iggy Azalea's "Work." They followed that with 10 more of the same bright bouncy and poppy, percussion driven tracks, each averaging over 10k plays, before ultimately going silent in September of 2018. However it seems like Florentine is back in business as they've now released three new productions starting with Valentine's Day's "BIG." My favourite of this new trio and the focus of this post, "WIND ME UP" delivers an instant kick of warm nostalgia, reminding me of the summer I worked a landscaping job listening to Soundcloud gems like this all day, every day. Clean and crisp it is the percussion that really drives this track but the subtle synths, their movement and the overall atmosphere cannot be understated. Sure seeing a drum line play "WIND ME UP" would be incredibly cool, but it wouldn't have quite the same energizing electricity without the warm, rising undertones.
