Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Daphni - Tin

Last year we saw Bwana build a track around a Taylor Swift sample for FACT Magazine's "Against The Clock." And there's no doubt strong female vocal samples are gold in electronic music. So could I interest you in one from Mariah Carey, reworked by Dan Snaith as Daphni? The mind behind Caribou takes 2005's "We Belong Together," and gives it a glorious, throbbing groove. The Mariah sample has a siren-like allure, making "Tin" an inescapable sonic web. All this about the vocals isn't to take anything from the production. Each click, clack, drum smack, scratch, is tuned and mixed brilliantly. In the end however, it's the subtle progressions and transitions, and continuous movement that makes "Tin" such a standout track in my ears. Stream below, and catch it on Bump In The Hump tonight."Tin" joins a wide array of genres and styles represented on Bump In The Hump tonight. There's house, future bass, dubstep, techno, moombahton, bass house and trance. There's lots of Toronto talent including HolloH, Hudson Alexander, and Dzeko, a track from Rezz's forthcoming debut album, plus two exciting premieres from Blansh and Eff That. All that, and more, live from 6-7 PM EDT on Radio Humber.

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Pat Lok - Stay Together

I've been a fan of Pat Lok ever since I came across his allerg-edit of Cashmere Cat's "Kiss Kiss," and have been supporting his productions on Radio Humber for years now. This past Friday, Pat dropped his debut full length album Hold On Let Go. We've already heard some of the tracks on Bump In The Hump before ("My Own Throne," "You Street," "In The Night" and "Oh No"), but tonight I've got perhaps my favourite cut from the 13 track package. "Stay Together" is, at least for me, the ultimate Pat Lok production. It boasts brilliant sound design, built around strong sultry vocals, and the kind of reach-for-the-sky ecstasy that feels as though it's ripped right out of the days when disco reigned supreme. It'll have you longing for that lost love, wanting to pick up the phone and reach out to repair the relationship. Disco and house music is all about letting love run free, an ethos on full display here.Joining this precious track from Pat Lok, are further disco vibes from Dom Dias, a club cut from Jacques Greene's Feel Infinite Remixes, and a bluesy jazz house track from bedroomer's Hudson Alexander. There's also some more banger type tracks on this episode of Bump In The Hump including Lazy Rich, Eff That, Vincent, Leterna and Ephwurd, who are set to play Velvet Underground July 1st with support from Marco Marz (RSVP & Tickets here). Listen to the full hour of new Canadian tunes, live on Radio Humber from 6-7 PM EDT.

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Pusher & Rezz on Deadbeats Compilation 1

This past Friday Zeds Dead's label Deadbeats dropped a 9 track album, Compilation 1, showcasing bass music of all kinds. With tracks from the duo themselves, fellow local Memorecks, and Deadbeats regular Nebbra, there's plenty of quality tracks to choose from. But if you know anything about me and Bump In The Hump, you know I go gaga over both Pusher and Rezz. And while their styles couldn't be more different, their tracks play perfectly on this diverse yet somehow cohesive collection. First Pusher teams up with Brit vocalist Heckz for his most unexpected production yet. It's heavier than we've heard from the usually neon producer, even taking into account his absolutely fire "Shake Down." Where Pusher takes his production to new realms, Rezz stays firmly in her inimitable groove. It takes almost no time at all to identify this as a Rezz production. It's got all the hallmarks: exquisite sound design, creepy crawly synth work, and indomitable bass. Her twisted mind is again on full showcase with "Matrix," which feels as though you've taken both the red and blue pills, causing your brain to burst. Catch both of these tracks tonight on an all new episode of Bump In The Hump, live from 6-7 PM EST on Radio Humber. But that's not all, along with these bass tracks I've got some trance, bass house, future bass, trap, and more, including new Soundprank, Eff That, Dabin, STFU, Whipped Cream and Ephixa. Stay tuned to this blog for the tracklist and live stream link posted at 6 o'clock sharp.

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Robotaki - Right Time (ft. Ari)

After seeing Robotaki open for Madeon and Porter Robinson at The Danforth Music Hall a week and half ago, I became overwhelmed with excitement for the local producer, and the music he had in store for us. Flash-forward to this past Friday, when he dropped his single, "Right Time" and as a member of his mailing list I was not only treated to Ari's sensational vocals, but a 'deluxe' remix of his track "Ghostboy." I'm not sure whether he's going to release it, but I've certainly urged him to. In the meantime, I'd highly recommend joining his mailing list in hopes of being able to hear the brilliance he's achieved with his remix of "Ghostboy." Join the list and enjoy the exclusive benefits at www.robotaki.net This week's episode of Bump In The Hump is also special, in that it is the first episode directly linked to companion show, My Mixtape. As announced last week, the first episode of My Mixtape will premiere this week, with Eff That dropping off an hour of music Friday at 11 PM EST. Now each week's episode of Bump In The Hump will end with an interview, in advance of that artists' mix for My Mixtape. However Bump In The Hump will continue to bring the best in new Canadian electronic music. This week includes remixes of Adventure Club, MSTRKRFT and Tiga, as well as originals from Jesse Zimmerman, Deadmau5, Whipped Cream & CRaymak. Hear it live from 6-7 PM EST on Radio Humber.

New Show: "My Mixtape" on Radio Humber

As you've likely heard by now, I've got a new show called "My Mixtape," set to premiere this coming Friday, November the 25th, at 11 PM EST on Radio Humber. It is an hour long guest mix show, that will compliment Bump In The Hump, giving Canadian DJs and producers an outlet to show off their favourite tracks, in their particular mixing style. Further marrying the two programs, an interview with that week's guest DJs will air at the end of Bump In The Hump, giving some insight into the creation of their mix as well as some background into who they are as DJs/producers. Bump In The Hump will continue to air live on Wednesdays from 6-7 PM EST, but will now be rebroadcast Fridays at 10 leading right into My Mixtape. As soon as My Mixtape hits the airwaves, it will also be available for download, allowing you to take this hour of masterfully mixed Canadian music with you wherever you go.

As I announced earlier this week, the first guests DJs to grace the My Mixtape airwaves are London veterans Eff That, who are primed to explode with banging bass house tracks. They've recently played alongside SonReal, Machine Gun Kelly, Shad and Snoop Dogg, and they've got a massive amount of brand new music set to be released in the coming months. You can expect their hour to be jam packed with amazing unreleased material and some dope demos. For a taste of what a mix from these two might entail, I'd recommend any one of their "That's An Effin' Banger" series. Stay tuned to this page, my facebook, and twitter accounts, for more information about My Mixtape.
