Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: knodis - Broken Circuit

Last week's episode of Bump In The Hump looked ahead to Hunter Siegel's CODA debut with the 3rd anniversary of No Neon. One of the tracks he dropped in his epic open to close set was our very own knodis and "Broken Circuit." Somehow I managed to forget to play it back in the summer, but that's remedied tonight as I unleash its alien/android appeal. Stream below and download free here.Once again I'll be digging through some of the odds and sods dropped off during the holiday break, including two from LuckyMe's Advent Calendar. We've got our usual mixture of everything from disco to deep and bass house, trap, dubstep and even some nightcore. There's big names like Botnek, Datsik, and Grandtheft offset by five new artist debuts. Finally we look ahead to the weekend with tracks from Vanic and G Jones, as well as my interview with Haus Of Panda who graces My Mixtape Satuday at 11. Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Bensley - Under The Sunshine

After nearly 8 months of quiet, Toronto's Peter Bennett broke the Bensley silence with last month's "Slither." He's back again now with a brassy jazz take on DnB in "Under The Sunshine." Propelled through clairvoyant vocals, the track exudes a bold and beautiful purpose. It's snappy, and oh so strong, truly a terrific turn of Bensley's brilliance. "Under The Sunshine" seems to bring so much together, while remaining relatively simple, as it often is in DnB. It's triumphant, yet bluesy; live feeling, yet electronically produced. Maybe best of all, it exemplifies the power of sunshine. Bask below.Bensley hits at about a 3 of a possible 4 on this week's episode of Bump In The Hump. We start with some deep house, get a little dreamy, head into some future bass and chiptune, before the fire finale of DnB, dubstep and a whole other host of hard hitters. There's 4 artists getting first plays, including Alice Glass (previously of Crystal Castles) with her debut eponymous EP. Other big names include Datsik, Dzeko, and Kaytranada, with favourites Lambo, MDK, and Sam Lamar also dropping new tracks. Extended, 2016 Finale, Episode of Bump In The Hump and Final My Mixtape of the Year

Tonight marks the final episodes of both Bump In The Hump and My Mixtape. While My Mixtape features Keith Kling stepping in for Eddie Roy, Bump In The Hump features an extended episode airing right after the 9 PM newscast, leading into My Mixtape at 11 EST. While I toyed with the idea of doing a special, best of/year in review, episode of Bump In The Hump, there was just too much good music released in the last week for that to be an option. I've even got a couple of exclusive premieres from the likes of, friend of the show, Frustra and Ch4ins4w, making his Radio Humber debut. This really is an absolutely massive episode with an unprecedented number of tracks and artists from countless genres. There's new Pusher, Bishu, Robotaki, Future Magic, Cyril Hahn, Loud Luxury, Overwerk, Pairanoid + Joe Ghost, Datsik, and Dr. Ozi. To further whet you appetite, here's the track I'll be opening with. Following Bump In The Hump comes My Mixtape, this week featuring Keith Kling who saved the day after Eddie Roy was struck with unforeseen issues. Keith stepped in, used Eddie's tracklist and delivered an hour's worth of music, highlighting Toronto's underground dance scene. Strider White - Future Paradise

While Friday was full of fanfare for an overwhelming number of big name releases, such as Keys N Krates' Midnite Mass, Flume's "Never Be Like You," and Brillz' Geekin' Remixes, to name a few, a rising star from Edmonton, Strider White, quietly dropped off a free three track EP, Future Paradise.
Strider, who has been releasing tracks since this time in 2014, has seen a growth in his style and sound, and assuredly his production capabilities. Finding influences from Datsik, Wu-Tang Clan and more evident in Future Paradise, the likes of Mord Fustang, Wave Racer and Pusher. The first track "Once Again" has the feels of a Keys N Krates, Alison Wonderland, or even a Flume production, with floating ethereal synths contrasted with hard hitting percussion. The vocals samples evoke spine tingling chills as it's listeners embark on a cosmic journey. The dreamlike voyage hits a speed-bump with the start of the second track "V P R W V E," that ups the intensity and tempo, in some sort of interstellar Nintendo themed melee; the Wave Racer and Pusher influences are front and center. Rife with 8-bit Nintendo samples, the playful production is rapid and raucous. It's the perfect combination of Jersey Club, Kawaii and future beats; its many movements and manipulations make it so adventurous, fresh and new while remaining familiar and ever so comfortable. The final track "With U" leaves that comfort behind in favour of bent and dissonant, alien synth warbles, essentially book-ending the EP, letting you down easy with this lounge inspired chill-out. The continuity and storytelling of Future Paradise is simply sublime, showcasing the range and artistry in Strider White's arsenal. Monday Mashed Up Mix #2

Each Monday I post a little mix of less than 30 minutes for your listening pleasure. It contains a variety of electronic music mixed and mashed up to varying degrees. The music is always first and foremost while DJing and mixing skills are meant to take a back seat. It includes some brand new stuff but also some forgotten gems and whatever it was that had entered my consciousness.
