Nick Bike - In The Mix @ Serato Brooklyn

I've been touting Nick Bike and his edits a bunch over the last few months but this 15 minute session live at Serato in Brooklyn offers the best visuals of why he's such a force to be reckoned with when it comes to the wheels of steel. He makes his way from under 100 BPM to over 130 BPM and sprinkles in the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snoop Dogg, Cardi B and DJ Funk. It's a pleasure to watch him work and just as fulfilling to enjoy his blends and quick cuts. His genius shines through early on as the acapella of LL Cool J kick in atop Rick James' "Mary Jane" proving he's here to do work. Later on, the run of "Gin & Juice" with "Ms. Jackson" to "King Kunta" is enough to get you out of your seat. Once you're up there, your jaw will fall to the floor as he brilliantly blends Jurassic 5's "In The House" with DJ Funk's "House The Groove." Finally you'll pass right out when you find out how well Cardi's verse on "I Like It" fits on top of "Fergalicious." Bless you Nick Bike, we are not worthy! Enjoy now below.

Paul Mond - 4 Flips, 4 Days

Future indie bounce originator, Paul Mond recently wrapped up a run of four flips in four days. Breathing new life into the likes of Fergie, Sean Paul, Ciara and Gloria Estefan, this endeavor saw Mond both break new ground with riddim and dub, as well as return to his baile funk roots.

Opening the edit journey, "Fergalicious" gets recast with a playful Latin energy and amorous allure that the original never quite captured. Fergie stays aboard for the second flip as her Black Eyed Peas crew and "Pump It" lay the foundation for tightly wound affair that gets a sprinkle of Sean Paul in the second half. Of all four flips, this one is both closest to the 'original' yet perhaps the most original in its own right. His manipulations of "Pump It" perfectly play around the vocals both original and otherwise, once again adding an awesome, refreshing allure. Diving deeper into Mond's master play, "1, 2 Step" receives an albeit brief, yet classy bounce roll out. Finally, the energy gets an uptick as "Conga" gets pumped up with a dope drum delivery, both bolstering the original vocal hooks and allowing for 'extended' baile breaks.

Especially considering the time constraints, each of the four flips are fantastic fun and incredible introductions to the prolific producer that is Paul Mond. Find each individually available for purchase via his Bandcamp here, and be sure to follow his socials below as he's always posting quality content.FOLLOW PAUL MOND: FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER
