Jauz X Netsky - Higher

One of the most highly anticipated collaborations, Jauz and Netsky's "Higher" is officially out via Ultra Music. Part of Netsky's forthcoming album III, this combination of the high powered veteran abilities of Belgian bad boy Netsky and man of the moment, Jauz, proves the sky is the limit. Even the lofty expectations attached to such a massive and ambitious partnership have been satisfied with the seemingly perfect combination of sounds and styles. Netsky's undeniably excellent musical composition is only amplified by Jauz's incredible low end. While the drop isn't mind blowing or anything over the top, its simple yet exceedingly groovy throbs and pernicious percussion create a clean and well constructed piece of music. Having already made its way into countless sets, I can only imagine "Higher" finds its way into more sets and as of its release today, many more iPods and car stereos.  Pre-order III now and you'll instantly receive "Higher," "Forget What You Look Like," "Work It Out," and "Rio," ahead of the album's May 20th release.

Grandtheft - Quit This City EP (Review)

This past Friday (October 30th), Grandtheft finally released his much anticipated Quit This City EP on Diplo's Mad Decent label. Ever since his performance at Bestival on Toronto Island this summer, it was clear that Grandtheft was sitting on a bunch of unreleased gems, the first of which he premiered via a recap video. Of course, I've been a fan of both Grandtheft and Sleepy Tom for years now, so the thought of these two working together was something I could have only dreamt of. When I first saw the video I immediately reposted it on my friend's wall with the caption "best collab ever?" I think we have our answer. These guys are incapable of disappointment.

While "Hold On" was the lead single, and standout track from the EP, the second single and title track is simply amazing. With flawless vocals laid-down by Lowell and the combination of atmospheric synths, Grandtheft's inimitable drums and badman bass stylings all wrapped around seemingly biographical lyrics, "Quit This City" is a picture perfect illustration of the ethos and sound of this brilliant release from one of Canada's biggest and brightest DJ/Producers.
