Enlightenment For Your Ears: Overwerk

Another Friday means it's time for another Enlightened Listening. This week's edition clocks in at just under four hours, running 55 tracks deep. Centred around albums from Dezza and OVERWERK, there's a trio of utterly infectious cuts from Jacques Greene, Todd Edwards and Folamour, as well as BIJOU's banging return to Night Bass (my favourite EP there in many months). Staying with the heavy stuff, the final four releases in the playlist, while diverse, each overflow with energy and bristle with bass. Returning to the top, the playlist opens with three-way collab "Ride Or Die," which I can almost guarantee will appear across year-end best-of lists. Boys Noize and Chily Gonzales is a potent pairing in itself, while Kelsey Lu's vocals are simply sublime. Finally, filling in the gaps are a fistful of remixes, including an immersive epic from Volen Sentir, and a trio of EPs from EMBRZ, HNTR and Afterlife. Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Daft Punk Tribute Trifecta

As I'm sure you know by now, the seemingly eternal hope of new Daft Punk was dashed Monday as the duo announced their split. While it had been years since we shared in new Daft Punk or even a live show/DJ set, their ability to bring people together remains as strong as ever. The outpouring of emotion from fans and artists alike only further illustrated their immeasurable impact and influence. From their sampling techniques to their sound and style, it's hard to imagine the scene without Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. And while there will certainly be a torrent of touching tributes and clout-chasing bootlegs in the coming days, I've decided to offer my farewell with three fabulous offerings from Sparkee, OVERWERK and Chilly Gonzales. Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Best Of 2020 (Part 1, Groovy)

It's year in review time as tonight marks the first of two episodes devoted to Bump In The Hump's Best Of 2020. This week will focus on groovy tracks, while next week turns its attention to the heavy hitters. Of course, due to time restrictions, I was not able to fit all of the selections into the two-hour episode, so I've opted to share some honourable mentions here. Extended, 2016 Finale, Episode of Bump In The Hump and Final My Mixtape of the Year

Tonight marks the final episodes of both Bump In The Hump and My Mixtape. While My Mixtape features Keith Kling stepping in for Eddie Roy, Bump In The Hump features an extended episode airing right after the 9 PM newscast, leading into My Mixtape at 11 EST. While I toyed with the idea of doing a special, best of/year in review, episode of Bump In The Hump, there was just too much good music released in the last week for that to be an option. I've even got a couple of exclusive premieres from the likes of, friend of the show, Frustra and Ch4ins4w, making his Radio Humber debut. This really is an absolutely massive episode with an unprecedented number of tracks and artists from countless genres. There's new Pusher, Bishu, Robotaki, Future Magic, Cyril Hahn, Loud Luxury, Overwerk, Pairanoid + Joe Ghost, Datsik, and Dr. Ozi. To further whet you appetite, here's the track I'll be opening with. Following Bump In The Hump comes My Mixtape, this week featuring Keith Kling who saved the day after Eddie Roy was struck with unforeseen issues. Keith stepped in, used Eddie's tracklist and delivered an hour's worth of music, highlighting Toronto's underground dance scene.
