Full, uncut interview with Colin Vlasak

Last week I had my friend and fellow blogger Colin Vlasak (aka ClassyVlassy) of FUXWITHIT in studio for another interview/conversation (find our first here). We chatted for more than an hour this time tackling a variety of issues, including: a big picture look back over the 4+ years of his blogging, the 'busting/burst EDM bubble', the rise of experimental bass in the wake of future bass, his article "Stop Supporting Bullshit," his advice to upcoming artists, what's next for FUXWITHIT and of course his episode of My Mixtape. Listen to our full uncut conversation below, and get his mix now here.FOLLOW FUXWITHIT: FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER

Bump In The Hump: July 25 (Season 7, Episode 42)

Tracklist

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Stickybuds - Take A Stand

Sonic diversity is a point of pride on Bump In The Hump, so when an artist releases an album that includes funk, reggae, DnB, glitch hop and more, we pay attention. That's the case with Kelowna's Stickybuds and his debut full length Take A Stand. The theme of rebellion and the fight for freedom runs strong through the 9 track arc whether literally, through Burro Banton, Blackout JA, and Rubi Dan or figuratively, through the unwillingness to be nailed down to one genre. Get in on the uprising with Take A Stand via Westwood Recordings and catch a track on Bump In The Hump tonight from 7-9 EDT!Of course the diversity continues with disco, house, wave, bass, club, trap, midtempo, and more. But there's also another strong theme, that of exploration and discovery. Bump In The Hump rarely goes a week without debuting a new artist, but this week is chalk full. Eight Canadian producers grace the airwaves tonight, a night in which we get a clip of my conversation with Classy Vlassy who discusses Soundcloud and its importance for discovery ahead of his episode of My Mixtape.

FUXWITHIT co-founder Colin Vlasak and I chatted for more than an hour Monday night, talking all things electronic music, blogging and the underground, and so much more. Check back here for the final full cut of said conversation available before the mix Saturday. Until then catch two hours of new music live on Radio Humber from 7-9 PM EDT here or after the fact via Mixcloud here.

Full, uncut interview with ClassyVlassy

Last week ClassyVlassy, aka Colin Vlasak, took over the reins of My Mixtape on Radio Humber. As usual, we did an interview ahead of time and despite thinking a half hour would be more than enough time to chat and sort out all the details of the mix, we ended up speaking for over an hour. As you may know, he's the editor and co-founder of FUXWITHIT, which means he's got a wealth of knowledge, well-founded opinions and ideas about the scene. With that in mind, I decided I just had to share our full conversation, in all its unedited glory. We spoke about his role with FUXWITHIT and its inception, their upcoming third anniversary, his introduction to electronic music, the Toronto scene, some of his favourite artist and of course his set for My Mixtape. Stream the interview below, follow FUXWITHIT, and be sure to check out his excellent episode of My Mixtape here. FOLLOW CLASSYVLASSY: FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER

First Of The Year: Sneak Peek at 2017 Premieres of Bump In The Hump and My Mixtape featuring ClassyVlassy

Tonight marks the 2017 return of both Bump In The Hump and My Mixtape on 96.9 FM Radio Humber. Bump In The Hump will be a special two hour episode, as we enjoy a small serving of the cornucopia of tracks released over the two week winter hiatus. There were a number of bootlegs and special tracks released because of the holidays, including tracks from both Bwana and Lunice via LuckyMe's yearly Advent calendar, a Christmas themed track from Venetian Snares, and CRaymak's bootleg of Skrillex "First Of The Year." Enjoy the reworked version below and download it via ToneDen here. Following the two hour premiere of Bump In The Hump, I'll be handing the decks over to Colin Vlasak, co-founder FUXWITHIT, aka ClassyVlassy. You'll first hear 10 minutes of our conversation, as he introduces himself, his blog, and previews his mix. I'll also be posting our full, 30+ minute conversation, entirely uncut, on Monday. But back to his mix. It features the likes of Zeds Dead, Autoerotique, Ekali, Rezz, Whipped Cream and more, as you can tell running through various genres and BPMs. It's clear Colin has his finger on the pulse, so I'm proud to kick off the 2017 My Mixtape year in his capable hands. Check out FUXWITHIT and his latest mix, "Don't Know How To Relax" to get a better idea of the kind of hype music you can expect to hear during his episode of My Mixtape. Three hours of continuous Canadian electronic music starts at 9 PM EST with Bump In The Hump, then My Mixtape at 11. Stream both via www.radio.humber.ca, follow me as I live tweet @OggieJames, find tracklists on this blog and download ClassyVlassy's mix after it airs tonight.
