Detroit-based DJ and producer Jonah Baseball has been busy. Last week he celebrated his hometown Washington Nationals first World Series appearance in decades by kicking off a new mix series aptly titled The World Series, with episode or Game 1 focusing on records he found in Israel. He since followed that with a three track EP entitled Our Time. As he is apt to do, Jonah brings brilliant percussion play to the fore of this jazzy trio, while offering up a different feel in each of the tracks.
The titular opening number pours plenty of positive energy, bringing together an incredible number of elements (strings, synths, subtle vocals and other effects) around the chattering percussive foundation. It hits harmoniously, like a well-oiled team. Second in the lineup is "Bat Flip," an immediately groovy cut that seems to pick up steam as it plays through its albeit short appearance. Just like the lead-off track this too is filled with an undeniable enthusiasm, sure to buoy the listeners spirits. Staying aloft, "Signals" sparkles immediately as the final track of the EP beams to life. The mix of a gilded guitar and the aforementioned electronic sheen, makes "Signals" a magical and beautiful journey.
Unfortunately, the Nationals have gone winless since Our Time dropped Friday, however they seemed just fine in Houston so maybe a comeback is in store. Either way the EP can be purchased here.FOLLOW JONAH BASEBALL: FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER
