Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Slooze - Resistance

I've been championing Slooze a lot lately and his star continues to rise through numerous remixes and potent original productions. Today the Toronto talent has released the last of three tracks I'm teasing ahead of tonight's Bump In The Hump. "Resistance," the lead single from forthcoming Instinct EP, continues Slooze's theme of storytelling in his originals. Seemingly interstellar in scope and gravity, "Resistance" wields wicked power pushing Slooze's percussion work to new heights. It straddles the line between awe-inspiring sound design and being an absolutely unhinged headbanger. It truly is a tour de force. The second of three looks ahead to the only August episode of Bump In The Hump comes from Rollers Only, the brainchild of Broken Future, STUND and Cain Trynchuk. Featuring the killer combination of the former two, "Wonna Funk" is a fat, groove number that delivers undeniable dance energy. Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Kazu - Meo (Jacques Greene Remix)

As you may be aware, I suffered a broken thumb in late July and have essentially been on a forced hiatus as a result. That said, the time has come to return both to the airwaves and the daily blog grind. With that in mind, I'll be teasing a track each day as we move towards my one and only August episode of Bump In The Hump, this Wednesday August 28th at 7 PM EDT on Radio Humber.

Jacques Greene already delivered one of the top tracks of 2019 with the sensational "Night Service" alongside Cadence Weapon, and he's once again tapped into sublime, ethereal magic with a remix of "Meo" by Kazu (Makino). Just like Jacques I am a long-time fan of Blonde Redhead, of which Kazu is the lead singer, and boy does the combination of these two artists work perfectly. Jacques described Kazu's vocals as "comforting melancholy" and here I consider Jacques to have delivered the yin to her yang with his incredible hauntingly beautiful production. Fremda - Stream

As far as labels go not many can match the eclectic quality of Fool's Gold. Want fresh rap? They got it. Game changing electronic? That too. Not only can they boast incredible releases, but somehow they are able to source them from rising talents (see Danny Brown and Madeaux for example). Here they've jumped on new mysterious European duo Fremda for just their second ever EP. Our first taste of forthcoming Login EP comes in funky retro single "Stream." Immediately alluring, the giant grooves have a gravity of their own, pulling you into the super cool soundscape that plays out like a nighttime ride on a Tron Light Cycle. Don't let its robotic and technological aesthetic trick you however, "Stream" does indeed have a human heart whose pulse you can hear throughout, ultimately endearing itself through its delightful design and fulsome feel.
