Fridays never fail, and while last week was a tough one to follow, we're once again greeted with a solid selection of new releases. For this edition of Enlightened Listening, I've opted to focus on single tracks, despite a number of the tracks selected appearing on larger releases. Stream and read below.
Barry & Gibbs - I Feel Your Love
The duo's run of originals continues with a brilliant, sample-driven party starter. Groove ready!
KH - Only Human
Kieran Hebdan (aka Four Tet) has been rinsing this Nelly Furtado 'remix' for quite some time. Incredibly hypnotic, it's sure to turn any dance-floor into a tribal rave ritual.
Tennyson - Melonpan
The awe-inspiring genius of Luke & Tess is once again on full display, spinning their way into our hearts with this beyond beautiful number. A truly sublime soundscape.
DROELOE - Only Be Me (Duskus Remix)
The kind of track that warms the cockles of your heart. Reassuring resplendence. My favourite track of the bunch, it is incredibly accessible yet not so drenched in pop that it becomes one of the masses.
Sébastian Léger - Sablier
Fluttery and floating, Seb stays high in the sky with this one, offering up another progressive piece.
Donae'o ft. Belly - Chalice (Chase & Status Remix)
These four minutes fly along, as Chase & Status built a brilliant bed for Donae'o and Belly to do their work. Killer, ominous vibes.
Skene Music - Almost Acid
Seems John has wiped his Soundcloud and Spotify catalogs clean, perhaps with acid? Sorry. If this is his new avenue, I'm totally here for it as the progression and movement here is sick. Almost as sick as the drops, ugh.
Heviicide & Circuit FreaQ - Headbanger
Bursting at the seams, this is one wild number. Electric and explosive, of course it lives up to its name.
Tony Romera - Grimey
Mean and menacing, do not take Tony Romera lightly. He comes at you from every angle: tying your shoes together, hitting you over the head with a steel chair and punching your kidneys, all at the same time.
The frenetic world of electronic music is full of distractions and diversions, hindering the ability to find transcendent music. Let Oggie James be your guru and lead down the path to musical Enlightenment. Album, song and event reviews, mixtapes, and radio shows, light the way to Enlightenment, conveyed by Oggie James.

Fan Fiction - when angels s1ng
My cat is running around like a lunatic today, but that may be a result of my repeated play of Fan Fiction's latest release. Dropped just after midnight last night as a part of NITE CORP.'s 13 track LIGHT release, Fan Fiction took on Donae'o and his track with Terri Walker "When Angels Sing."
When you're talking NXC there's very few, if any, that rival Fan Fiction, and this is just the latest example. Obviously this is a tremendous original track (my favourite from Donae'o), but the way it gets transformed here is genius. It's fast and fluttery as with any NXC track, but it's not overwrought. Fan Fiction does a brilliant job maintaining the delicate overture of the original. It remains refined while boosting the energy, like a shot of adrenaline to the heart. It may be my favourite on LIGHT, but there's a few more fire flips, including Machinedrum's "Angel Speak" and Hellberg's "The Girl," all of which are available absolutely free. Add some NITE CORP. to your day and feel a fire lit under you feet. FOLLOW FAN FICTION:FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER

Aaron Jackson - Hold Me Tight (ft. Korynn O'Connell)
Oregon-based house producer, Aaron Jackson has just dropped an alluring track that will have you falling in love, then falling to pieces when the drops washes over your ears. Featuring the vocals of San Francisco's Korynn O'Connell, "Hold Me Tight" kicks off with a quaint house beat, slowly growing in magnitude. The chord progression recalls, at least for me, Jack Beats' Donae'o collab "You Should Know," but stands unique in its construction and design. Jackson works O'Connell's vocals in brilliantly, keeping the levels in a space that neither overpowers the groove nor falls to the wayside. As the underlying layers of synth wash all but the essentials away ahead of the drop, we are treated to a sick, wicked and nasty deluge of bass. It's stifling in its gripping groove, punctuated in just the right places as its hold on you tightens. As someone who was essentially brought up with house music as the form of electronic music, "Hold Me Tight" hits a special spot in my heart. I've often said and written that I'd happily die in the arms of certain producers' music, and can certainly say the same about this one. This slice of sublime house can be yours absolutely free, from the man himself, here.
