Since '86" caught my attention when the guitar riff from Mac Dre's track "
Since '84" hit atop the house beat. While I can't seem to put my finger on it, I have a feeling that house beat is from
Hot Since 82, but I may be mistaken. Regardless,
Freddie Fiers and
Yeti Mercury have a cool cut on there hands here. It may start slow, but the movement and play of "
Since '86" is ingenious. Through its diverse selections of sounds it feels as though it's a computer coming to life, firing up a flurry of processes eventually authoring this largely digital groove. And it is that life that makes this such a fun number, in that even if it were a mere mashup or edit, it's brilliantly done; playing spiritedly with the Mac Dre sample.
