Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: 2¢ - Rebel (MSTRKRFT Remix)

An wild roller coaster ride, this week's episode of Bump In The Hump has more barrel rolls, drops and loop-the-loops than Canada's Wonderland and West Edmonton Mall combined. An up and down affair, we move back and forth between countless genres while focusing on techno, house and disco/funk. A killer climb in the techno section comes from MSTRKRFT who, like fellow Torontonian thook, remix the dynamic duo of Craze and Four Color Zack, . Turning "Rebel" into a chugging acid affair, MSTRKRFT's remix is sure to send your hands into the air as its twists, turns and drops cause your stomach to lurch into your throat. This visceral vision caps a brutally banging run of techno on tonight's episode which concludes with a clip of my conversation with Calgary's The Accountant, this week's guest on My Mixtape. Listen live from 7-9 PM EDT via Radio Humber or after the fact here

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: David Hohme & Dustin Nantais - Onward Only

Tomorrow the legendary trio of Above & Beyond take to REBEL for what promises to be an epic night (RSVP/Tickets). Not only do I have a remix of their classic "Sun & Moon" lined up in tonight's episode, it's also sandwiched by tracks from their own Anjunadeep imprint, including the just released David Hohme & Dustin Nantais collaboration "Onward Only." After first capturing my attention with "Crash & Burn," I've kept a close eye on Nantais and can safely say that this is the perfect place for his expansive, wandering sound. Stream it as a part of Explorations 08 and catch it in the mix tonight.
Above & Beyond are not the only Anjuna talents in the 6ix this weekend however, as Luttrell brings his Into Clouds tour to The Velvet Underground Friday (RSVP/Tickets). Rounding out the weekend of activities; Wingtip, Destructo and Mind Against all hit the decks Friday night (click names to see each event). Also on tonight's episode, we open with a first play from Vancouver's Hot Tub, make back to back stops at EPs from Shapeman and The Accountant, before closing with a strong serving of trap, midtempo, DnB and dubstep from the likes of So Sus, Slooze, Zeds Dead and AWAL. Listen live from 7-9 PM EST via Radio Humber or catch it after the fact as cataloged on Mixcloud here.

A-Trak - Cut It Out!: A 74 Minute DJ Mix

It's always a treat when we get a mix from one of the world's greatest DJs, A-Trak, but this 74 minute session comes at just the right time for me, as he'll be hitting Toronto's new club jewel, REBEL, Saturday January 21st. I've spoken and written at length about A-Trak's mixing abilities both technically, but also from a taste-making perspective. His fingers fly across the decks, guided by his ears' intuition, selecting the perfect tracks. This 50+ track mix shows off just that, incorporating choice cuts like Sunni's cover of "Black Hole Sun," Mumdance's remix of Mura Masa and A$AP Rocky's "Lovesick," and NT89's remix of Rogerseventytwo's "You Take Me Higher." Then there's mind-blowing mixing through the astounding additions of Jean-Luc Ponty & Kanye, The Blackbyrds, Paul Simon, Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against The Machine, Eagles Of Death Metal, and Korn. They just prove that anything goes in an A-Trak mix, and he can make anything not just work, but prosper.

I doubt this is the kind of set we're going to get from A-Trak when he hits the stage in the renovated Sound Academy, but if you're looking for a finely crafted chill mix this one will surely satisfy your needs. Of course there are tons of other A-Trak mixes that I'd recommend - For turntablism: his Mixmag Asia set, for throwback electro: his Bloghaus mix (part 2 here), for feels: his Music Heals mix, for his most recent club set: NYE at San Bernadino. Tickets are still available for the 21st, RSVP and info, here. FOLLOW A-TRAK: FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER
