Moullinex - The Huggers (Club Edit)
Lisbon, Portugal's Luis Clara Gomes, better known to us as indie dance/house producer Moullinex just released a club edit of jazzy scat joint "The Huggers." Originally part of the superb Hypersex album, "The Huggers" hits like a fantastically funky, uber cool mix of Andy Bernard's a capella group Here Comes Treble, The Chordettes' "Mr. Sandman" and Metroplane's "Bahp." Like the mini album art that accompanies Hypersex, there's a whole lot going on as countless bodies flail every which way. For this reason it was not the most DJ friendly track. However its undeniable allure led to countless requests for a club-centric edit to which Moullinex obliged. Extending the awesomeness to over seven minutes, the flurry of um-bops, das, dos, and dows now have a more consistent bed to bounce on. That said the backing beat is nothing to scoff at, but rather a power funk factory that would be a banger even without the awesome vocal offerings.
