Twelve Mixes To Get You Through The Week

Going back through the year I've already shared several masterful mixes, from the likes of Tiga, Point Point, and Alan Fitzpatrick (as well as five new episodes of My Mixtape). While I normally write more lengthy descriptions and sales pitches as to why you ought to listen, I've found that today I've become overwhelmed with wonderful musical journeys. So with that in mind I've compiled a dozen of my favourites of 2018 so far, and will share with very brief descriptions. There's everything from jungle DnB, experimental bass and trap, dubstep, disco, house, and chill. Since not all of these mixes are on Soundcloud there will be no proper playlist, instead I'll use individual embeds. Enjoy below!

Craze & Four Color Zack - 2¢ PT 4 (FREE)
Two of the best DJs in the game go full bore for just over half an hour with trap, bangers, and even some comedy. That said, this is no joke; there's some true brilliance in here, and not just musically.

Dust-E-1 - Live at Weekend World 005 (FREE)
Have a deadline coming up in an hour? Need a mix for your next run? Look no further than this injection of energy that will have you flying high and moving faster that a hummingbird on speed.

KaTT - Six Impala Mix 002Terrifying trap and bass to put your subwoofer to the test. Get wild and weird with new stuff from six impala founder and electronic death purveyor KaTT. Look out for the dastardly Death Grips remixes.

Peggy Gou - Essential Mix (FREE)Woman and musical magician of the moment delivers an eclectic edition of the "World's Favourite Mixshow." While she doesn't play "It Makes You Forget" she does deliver the likes of J. Dilla, A Tribe Called Quest, and Prins Thomas. All In a row! A gigantic journey through sound you won't soon forget.

Petko Turner - Sunset Grooves Podcast #113 (FREE)Whether you're on Spring Break or holed up inside somewhere, the warmth is unavoidable with this beauty. I'm particularly sold because of the "Regulate" remix (about 22:15) among other excellent edits.

Mikey Palermo - Live at Coda (FREE)
Toronto's favourite son helped fill the floor this past weekend ahead of Walker & Royce, with a bunch of Dirtybird and This Ain't Bristol. The cool ocean background image brings Kideko's remix of Louis The Child to my mind. Gotta love the live club sounds and fun that was clearly had at Coda Saturday.

Jessy Lanza - Soft + SweetMade because Jessy couldn't sleep one night and while I hesitate to say this will put you to sleep, it's certainly silky smooth enough. It'll likely introduce you to a number of new artists, it did for me. It's especially satisfying because of her inclusion of China Crisis "Bigger The Punch I'm Feeling."

Thook - FUXWITHIT Guest Mix 014 (FREE)
Along with KaTT, Thook is one of the reasons I point to Toronto as a hotbed for experimental bass. This 30 minutes is so jam packed it gives  a run for their money. Plus new music from the man himself.

Pinch + Riko Dan - Crack Mix 191I'll admit I came for Riko Dan, but was then blown away by the mix of the two. My only beef comes from the fact that since this is such a "dubplate-heavy mix" there is no download available.

Ciel - Noods Radio February '18At times dreamy, others incredibly driven. A wonderful mix of cold technological club cuts with whispers of wild natural warmth. Good for both a workout or a walk in the woods.

A-Trak - Cut It Out 2Another excellent example of the awesomeness that is A-Trak, a true DJ. His selection and mixing are top notch, with of course an incredible list of names and tracks that is sure to leave you stunned.

Internet Daughter x Eytan Tobin - Live on IStoleTheSoulFMToronto's dynamic duo dole out dirty dubstep, trap and grime, like only they can. A bunch of their own originals and edits along with their killer club curations makes this a mix unrivaled by many.
