Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: LeBaron James - Party Starter

With the all-Canadian dance party that is the season premiere of Bump In The Hump set for tomorrow, what better time to share the opening track, literal "Party Starter" from friends of the show LeBaron James. Having shared several edits early on, Mark Beshai and Jeff Webb have since turned their attention to originals. "Party Starter" marks their fifth Spacedisco single with another new one, "Disco Derby," just posted to Traxsource for pre-order. Featuring their usual growing grooves, LeBaron James make use of several sound bites from Family Feud laying the groundwork for a successful shindig, culminating in a well-timed Steve Harvey "Yeah!" There's no doubt this will get your toes tapping and bestow a smirk on your face as Bump In The Hump forges ahead into its ninth season. Bump In The Hump: Season 9 Intro

Seemingly long overdue, the ninth season of Bump In The Hump is finally set to premiere in its normal timeslot (Wednesdays 7-9 PM ET) this week. With the new season comes a reworked intro (below) and logo (above). Once again I've utilized some of my favourite tracks from the previous season, while keeping bits and pieces from intros of yore. In this intro you'll find the likes of Kotek, Ryan Hemsworth, thook, The Kount, Chromeo and of course Todd Terje and The Olsens.

As always the focus of Bump in The Hump remains on the latest and greatest in electronic and dance from across our vast country. Imitating the expansive and inclusive nature of our incredible homeland, the music showcased each week comes in all different shapes and sizes. In any given episode you're likely to hear acid-tinged techno, divine disco, menacing midtempo, fabulous funk, diabolic dubstep, hearty house, and/or delirium-inducing drum and bass, often back to back. It's always a party in itself  and will set you up for a weekend of partying, showcasing countless events happening across the 6ix.

With the last 'new' episode of Bump In The Hump stretching back to August 28th, there's no shortage of new material for me to wade through, so expect the next few episodes to be jam packed with incredible tunes. Enlightened Listening for October 4

Three weeks ago I thought I was on the precipice of returning to regular blogging and a new season of Bump In The Hump. However that weekend I spilled on my laptop, and while I'm writing to you from said computer, it is no longer on my lap as I am forced use an external keyboard and mouse while I continue to wait for the replacement part to arrive. That said mountains of music continue to be released, and while I spent most of my week wading through the weeks I missed, I've decided to focus on this Friday's releases via a new edition of Enlightened Listening. Listen below and find a brief blow by blow in the next paragraph.

As always, I like to open with cool cuts and that's what we get with the latest from Goldroom. His dreamy delight leads us into funky fun and eventually acid in Justin Jay's Future Feels EP. Following  that comes a killer four track EP from Oliver Koletzki who offers up awesome, expansive grooves rife with wild sound and a plenitude of percussion. The legendary Eric Prydz then follows with his epic 13-track PRYDA 15 VOL III album, which is of course killer quality, through and through. Turning towards bass house, there's four banging EPs back to back from trusted names like Jack Beats, NuKid, Destructo and CONFESSION. Closing out that ridiculous run is a track BLANSH had sent me in January, and while I've always been a fan of his work, I can honestly say "Way Up" is my favourite. And speaking of favourites, Gesaffelstein is back again and much closer to my favourite Gesaffelstein in the diabolically dark, shiver inducing power punch that we got from 2010-2013. Following the incredible power of NOVO SONIC SYSTEM comes Datassette's Kestrel Manoeuvers In The Dark, a brilliant mind-bending display of synth work. Finally we close with a 15-track deadmau5 remix package featuring the likes of Morgan Page, Pig&Dan, Spencer Brown and a whole host more. Enjoy!
