Enlightened Listening for March 5

It's the first Friday of the month, and that means it's once again Bandcamp day. Moving our weekly new music 'playlist' Enlightened Listening there, we feature a couple album pre-orders with sweet singles in "SENNA" from Cadence Weapon's Parallel World and "Life Is Perfecto" from CFCF's memoryland. There are a couple compilations in the sick second installment in the BOOST TAPE series and the b-side of Too Slow To Disco's Yacht Disco Edits Vol. 3. Staying with split packs, Ticklish dropped the first four tracks from the 10th edition of his Reboots series, while Jimi Needles joins in on the fun with the high-powered third edition of his Rewurks series. There's a trio of free tracks from Daniel Avery, Frustra and René LaVice, and an incredible EP from Yedgar. Aside from a pair of singles from Duck Sauce and Lunice, everything else is a remix with quality cuts from NICOLAAS, Damian Lazarus and Kon.

Enlightened Listening for July 3

Bandcamp is at it again, once again waiving their fees, and of course that means this edition of Enlightened Listening returns to the popular platform. This week I've opted to add embeds for ease of access, but will refrain from doing release by release breakdowns and rather highlight those that require/deserve a little more shine. It's a diverse list with a number of killer compilations so take your time and be sure to check out each release, and of course purchase those that resonate with you.

Highlights/breakdowns: Cassius' final record with Philippe Zdar finally gets a digital release and it couldn't be a better, more fitting or prescient production. Absolutely one of the tracks of the year. GRRL's Marathon is incredibly powerful and immersive, a testament to their tremendous taste and ever thriving energy. Jaymie Silk's output this year has been stunning and this new release is reflective both of that and the trying times we're in - a truly brilliant (however dark) project. The BOOST TAPE is basically a who's who in trap, bass and all adjacent genres, and for just $10 is an absolute steal (not to mention it's all going to The Movement For Black Lives). Finally, the four-pack of "Mountains" remixes is too stacked not to showcase: 2x Paul Woolford, The Patchouli Brothers and Joey Negro. WOW.

The Allergies - Say The Word (ft. Andy Cooper & Marietta Smith)

Caribou - Never Come Back / Sister (Floating Points Remixes)

Caroline Polachek - Ocean Of Tears (umru Remix)

Fiorious - I'm Not Defeated (Cassius XXL Remix)

Gene Summers & Dea - Do You Think I'm Sexy (KON Edit)

GRRL - Marathon

Jaymie Silk - EMPTY

Kai Whiston - No World Eternal

Lane 8 & Kidnap - Matcha Mistake

Ticklish - Reboots Vol. 8

Tim Reaper & Friends - Meeting Of The Minds Vol. 1

Tim Reaper & Friends - Meeting Of The Minds Vol. 2

Various Artists - BOOST TAPE 01

Various Artists - Physically Sick 3

Various Artists - The Trips: Triple A Talent

The Vision ft. Andreya Triana - Mountains (Remixes)

Mighty Mouse - Summer 2019 Mixtape

Disco magician Mighty Mouse has just offered up his latest mixtape with over an hour of gorgeous grooves and intoxicating edits. Right from the jump the "Summer 2019 Mixtape" is downright divine, opening with dope Defected release The Vision's "Heaven" and half of the duo, Kon's edit.

Killer cuts continue to flow with Mighty Mouse's own edit of Diana Ross riffing relentlessly onward. After the heat of James Curd comes back to back cool numbers from Coflo and Jasper Street Co., both of whom take us to disco church. The next Mighty Mouse edit comes in the form of Change's incredible beauty "Angel In My Pocket" which is yet to be released, but I'm hoping comes available in the next email update (sign up here). After some awesome horns and brilliant bongos, we're greeted by the giant groove of Boston Bun's "Don't Wanna Dance," which is the kind of track that sure to "Blow Your Mind." And jokes aside, the next track of the same name lives up to its title as the sample at its core, "The Rubberband Man" is one of my all-time favourite tracks. Wrapping up the mix Mighty Mouse unleashes yet another edit, this time taking on ABBA before bidding adieu with the sensational "Thunder In My Heart."
