I feel like it wasn't that long ago that I wrote about another Justin Timberlake remix, yet here we are again. Japan's koshi has linked up with French powerhouse NEUS for a banging flip of the 2006 classic "SexyBack." Already a club cut par excellence, koshi and NEUS have doubled down on its strength through titanic percussion and room rattling bass. A bit darker than the original, it still has the same easy and immediate ability to get bodies moving in unison. A-Trak - Hollerboard Redux Set

There's no debating A-Trak's spot on the Mount Rushmore of DJs. You could literally spend days, if not weeks, enjoying his wide range of sets and mixes. Back in October of 2015 he dropped his "Bloghaus Revival Mix," with the followup coming about about six months later, here. While he didn't directly reference the Erol Alkan forum, it no doubt played part in the track selection as a hub for electronic music aficionados from around 2007-2009. Last night he released a recording of a September 28th set in Philadelphia entitled "Hollerboard Redux Set."

As he mentions in the description, this Hollerboard Redux party arose from the message board of the same name, based around Diplo and Low Budget's Hollertronix parties. Before Soundcloud and EDM, it was message boards and forums like Erol Alkan's and Hollerboard where DJs and fans alike shared mashups and "lesser-known regional styles," bringing incredible creativity and experimentation to DJ sets. The result below, a mix of tracks from the Hollerboard Era and new songs with the same spirit, is one of the widest ranging sets you'll ever hear. Where else are you going to get Billy Joel pitted against A$AP Rocky & Skepta in the same hour as Justin Timberlake, Parliament, Bloc Party and Kraftwerk.
The back and forth in the mix is incredible. One minute you're popping off to Cajmere "Percolator" the next your gliding across the floor to A-Trak's ABBA aided "Voulez-Vous" or pumping up the jam before releasing the beast on Hall & Oates. That said, A-Trak's made all of those transitions fit together better than PB&J. Like Kid Sister's "Pro Nails," which he helped write, this mix is dressed to the nines, "toes done up with her finger nails matchin'." Just one look at the massive tracklist, almost as wide as it is tall, and you'll realize what kind of treat you're in for. It's some serious "Laffy Taffy" as A-Trak's journey is sure to leave your head spinning.

Justin Timberlake - SexyBack (Scissors Remix)

I cannot count the number of JT remixes I've come across since the game changing FutureSex / LoveSounds, but none have snuck up on me the way this Scissors mix has. The little vocal samples and growing bass line in the intro are awesome, but don't necessarily hit you over the head as JT. However once you realize they are from "SexyBack," it becomes overwhelmingly obvious and is just the first example of Scissors' success in reworking the 2006 banger into a brilliant 2018 bootleg. Obviously well designed the original oomph stays strong alongside the uber catchy nostalgic vocals, but the best bits come in the Brazilian bass inspired drop, as those salacious vocal samples pair perfectly with the potent punch of the bass. The best example though comes very specifically  through the almost angelic, heavenly "aah" that immediately gets slapped down by the brooding bass. Justin Timberlake - Sexy Back (Birthdayy Partyy Remix)

Three weeks ago, in honour of his Superbowl halftime performance, I made a list of my five favourite remixes of Justin Timberlake, and surprisingly my favourite original JT track was not represented. Of course I'm talking about "Sexy Back." For me and I think many others, it was the track that made JT cool, leading out FutureSex/LoveSounds which I've said previously, still stands up as one of the best albums of the aughts (2000-2009). Taking on the immediately identifiable and deliciously dance-worthy original is a tough task, and while the likes of Tom Novy and Armand Van Helden have already done so, I believe Birthdayy Partyy has proven themselves to be up to snuff.

This mix breaks from the above offerings that find themselves more tuned to the club sound of yesteryear, as this bass house revision fits perfectly in the 2018 sphere. Similarly, Birthdayy Partyy have kept the more of the flow and direction of the original. Its 4:45 runtime, while longer than the original, simply allows for an extended tempestuous twist. And this is exactly the thread that runs through this mix. Seemingly each and every element is turnt and tortured in a kind of S&M manner. The vocals, the drums and, most effectively, the bass synths are scarred and stricken with a malice that makes the diabolical drops deliver an indignant amount of mayhem. It could survive as a mere instrumental but the noxious nostalgia of the lyrics have you holding on harder and leave you more mindblown when the distorted drop deforms your face. My 5 Favourite Justin Timberlake Remixes

With JT set to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show tonight I figured I'd share my five favourite remixes of his prolific catalog. Unfortunately not all of the mixes are on Soundcloud so I can't make a playlist there, however I've made sure each track is linked properly. Also you'll note that my personal preferences trend more towards the future bass, trap, and jersey type tracks, but maybe that's more about Justin's proclivity to produce tracks that fit those kinds of feels. Either way enjoy, and grab the free downloads wherever possible (noted by asterisk). Finally, these are not sorted in any specific order just the way they occur in my iTunes.

Suit & Tie (Dillon Francis Remix)*

Maybe the most obvious inclusion. Two multi-talented artists at their best. A banger that grooves.

My Love (Playground Mob Remix)There aren't many remixes that nail the allure of Jersey Club than this. So much frivolous fun.

What Goes Around (eSenTRIK Remix)Of all of eSenTRIK's remixes this may be my favourite; retooling and building on, my favourite JT cut.

TKO (Lido Remix)

From the now lost Lido remix package of 2014, I see this as almost the perfect mixture of the two remixes above, with the added and undeniable genius of Lido's orchestration. The dopest drum fills.

Rock Your Body (Party Favor Remix)*The most elusive mix on the list. Short but sweet, funky and fun. Classic Benzi/Get Right Radio.

Sofasound - Don't Think About It (ft. max fry)

Oof, this one hits right in the feels. It's been more than a decade since Justin Timberlake released his game changing, and now legendary album FutureSex/LoveSounds, and it's still spurring remixes/reworks/covers and just straight up spins on the radio and DJ decks alike. The latest loving tribute is a take on "What Goes Around... Comes Around," from Port St. Lucie producer, Sofasound and fellow Floridian, max fry. The swirling vocals and synths spin around your head, binding your brain to the sheer beauty of this new instrumental. The mixture of live element and trippy glitched out grooves is quite simply genius, especially in regards to the back and forth, dueling nature of not just this track, but the album as a whole. "Don't Think About It" is a delightfully dizzying reconstruction of a classic, that will undoubtedly earworm it's way into head for days to come. Benzi - Get Right Radio: Summer Edition 2017

Benzi is back with his annual Get Right Radio mix. As usual it's jam packed with the most new, and previously unearthed gems. Of the 40 tracks in less than 56 minutes, there's at least two dozen remixes, edits, and mashups, four of which he had his hands on. Benzi always delivers bootleg bliss and this is no different.
