The frenetic world of electronic music is full of distractions and diversions, hindering the ability to find transcendent music. Let Oggie James be your guru and lead down the path to musical Enlightenment.
Album, song and event reviews, mixtapes, and radio shows, light the way to Enlightenment, conveyed by Oggie James.
It's probably not a good sign to be at a loss for words as I begin a piece, but here I am. I'm struck by DUX's "Lady Of The Night" in so many ways. Let's start chronologically shall we?
A couple months back the Boston-born, California-based artist uploaded a video (below) of himself, vocalist (and apparent stunt driver) Stan Taylor, along with the four other artists behind "Lady Of The Night," all jammed in a car performing the funky piece. Not only are the visuals something to behold, but the song is quite simply sensational. Of course this had people clamoring for a download/stream or the likes, and DUX came through last week with just that (Soundcloud/Spotify).
The studio version brings the same fun and easily enjoyable warmth of the live version, in an even more fulsome manner. We already know how polished and powerful Stan Taylor is, but the fact that his voice is still full of passion removes any doubt that this version is stale or lifeless. And this is the key to the success of a song such as this. It must have a heart and soul, and like the titular character, this decidedly does. Find it as part of DUX's Sarita EP, which is due out tomorrow (June 8th) see here.
