We're now in 2017, a year many have been waiting for, in part because the Gorillaz have promised to release new music. Well we're not quite there yet, we've got an interesting compilation/mix of a dozen tracks, each from "kick-ass women who in their own individual ways are true pioneers in the writing, production and creation of music." It seems Damon Albarn, the mind behind the music of the virtual band, is seeking inspiration from these talented women, and this mix might give us some insight into what the future holds for the Gorillaz. It certainly seems to jive with the band's sound, style and spirit. So whether they go for the emotional echoes of the choral opening of Kaval Sviri, the electropop of Grimes, the RnB of Haitus Kaiyote, or a combination of each, we can expect a new sound, look and feel from the Gorillaz.
