A couple months ago, I wrote about a remix of
LeyeT's track "
Don't Make Me Cry" by Albany based producer
Nate VanDeusen. He's back now with a brand new original called "
Open My Eyes" featuring the ethereal vocals of Erin McKee. Once again working with a kawaii future bass bent, Nate has crafted stunning song, that is at once captivating, and somehow dream inducing. Make no mistake, this is no nightmare, although you may find yourself floating above your body as the combination of plucky strings and synths summon your soul. It excels with fancy-free flourishes, punctuated by gasps as though awakening from a fever dream. In fact, it was those same gasps that grabbed my attention in his remix of
LeyeT, and just as in that track the drum work here is also a delight. There's a military-like precision to the percussion, underscoring VanDeusen's dream inducing puppet-mastery, which is only amplified by his killer vocal chops.
