Enlightened Listening for July 9

After skipping last week, Enlightened Listening is back with more than four hours of new music that you need to hear. Closing the book on last week, I'll note that Daktyl's "Hyperion" is from then, but I prefer it to the new single from his forthcoming mixtape. It, like so much of this week's playlist, features an incredible energy, a wicked vibe, and dope drums.

The other theme appears to be long-form releases (LPs or mixtapes) with Hybrid, Wizard, DJ Ride, and Attacca Quartet, each crafting a unique, cool, and compelling journey. Rounding out that first half, I've gotta give a tip of the hat to Ninajirachi's NLV/Sable Valley release, which is an absolute gas.

Still, the dope drums persist into the second half of the playlist as things get a touch more spacey with an awesome yehno remix package, another unreal Skream ifeel EP, and an Amtrac solo effort on OPENERS. Turning more dancey, and ever more groovy, the playlist continues with intoxicating originals from KUU and Peggy Gou, and a trio of top-notch remixes from Tensnake, Gerd Janson, and ABSOLUTE. A Soundcloud Sampler

After taking the day off to enjoy an impromptu American Thanksgiving with my friends from university, and then taking in Ekali, josh pan and Y2K, I missed a whole bunch of music, and intend to make up for that here. Instead of doing a long piece or two, I'm going to quickly tackle 9 'new' tracks I came across this morning. It really is a Soundcloud sampler, running the gamut of genres and styles that Soundcloud has become known for. There's some typical "Dance & EDM," some trap, some ambient, some house, nxc and more. So here we are, nine tracks in no particular order with a quick sentence or two about each below. Careful not to trip on the uber awesome vocal chops, even though this uplifting number will have you back on your feet in no time. The usual onslaught of energy we've come to expect from Cool Tweens.

2 Wasted & Lutez - Lay It Down (ft. Gabe Xavier)
Equally intoxicating guitar and vocals already have your head spinning before the drop has you puking in the toilet. Good times.

Wizard - Something Going On (w/ E$$AY)*
Hazy waves of chill trap grooves lead into an awesome progressive finale. Brilliant beat work.

No matter how you feel about the month itself, you'll fall for this track. Beyond beautiful ambiance.

Marry Us - L'Étranger*
Somehow manages to make future bass feel fresh and new again. Pristine and playful production.

DI33GO & Chris Albert - Dancing Life*
Can't quite put my finger on what track I'm reminded of, but I definitely like the feeling it gives me. Pairs some pretty piano with a wicked groovy drop. Definitely dance worthy.

NAUUDA - party*
More magical ambiance, especially as the wonky tones and drums dazzle. Quite the cool craft-work.

Styline - What You Want*
Ever growing dance grooves will walk you out onto the dance-floor, even if you don't have an ounce of rhythm in your body. You'll be waving back and forth with the rest of the crowd in no time.

GAWS THE GREAT - Seen
Trippy little number that succeeds on several levels. Undefinable awesomeness. Perhaps the best example of the strength of Soundcloud; it's challenging and unquestionably cool in its inventiveness.
