Enlightened Listening for December 11

Short but sweet and oh so awesome, this week's Enlightened Listening features 20 tracks across 12 different releases. Led by a killer Jessy Lanza remix package in 24/7, remixes are indeed this playlists' theme. One of the year's hottest producers, TEED delivers yet another incredible remix as does Planningtorock. The legendary likes of Mssingno and A. G. Cook appear as fabulous freebies courtesy LuckyMe's annual advent calendar. Headlining a Canadian heavy cast, Tiga's Colours So Bright is utterly inspired (b-side included). While the middle of this list is groovy through Hatiras, Aeroplane and Dr Packer, the final two tracks are stone-cold killers in Haus Of Panda and TIGER DROOL. Enjoy!

Enlightened Listening for November 13

Another week is done and with it comes another installment of Enlightened Listening. This week's playlist features three highly anticipated releases alongside more than a handful of pleasant surprises. 

Starting with the anticipated offerings, ASHE launches his new label Ocean Dark with two of his trademark organic and chilling concoctions. TSHA's Flowers EP finds its conclusion with two more awesome and inspired collabs in "Renegade" and "Demba" featuring Ell Murphy and Trio Da Kali, respectively. Finally, after more than a year of anticipation and apparently five years in the making, The Vision's The Vision has come to fruition. With a handful of fabulous singles and countless killer collabs, it has the makings of an album of the year contender.

As for the aforementioned pleasant surprises, Sultan + Shepard start things off with another incredible EP on This Never Happened, continuing their ridiculously high-quality run of releases there. Another unstoppable pairing crops up next as Clarian returns to Anjunadeep with sublime Sunbeam. Staying with dynamic duos, Bonobo and TEED deliver a divine b-side to brilliant "Heartbreak." Rounding out the stunning selection of remixes of HiRUDiN, Octo Octa offers up an epic take on "Mountain Baby." The Prospa boys continue their incredible run with the classic vibes of "The Thrill," which after seeing a tweet say it sounds like Black Mirror's "San Junipero" I can't get out of my head. Finally, the playlist concludes with two top-notch remixes of The Shapeshifters' Billy Porter led "Finally Ready."

We're just 10 days out from the release of Jessie Ware's fourth full length album What's Your Pleasure?, due Friday June 19th on PMR. Last night she made a green screen appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden performing the album's latest single "Save A Kiss" (which you can watch here), while earlier in the day Orlando Higginbottom, aka Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, lent his touch to the James Ford/Midland production.

Turning the lush string-driven disco affair into a catchy club cut, TEED's eclectic quality works wonders throughout this electro-tinged, anticipatory offering. There is no let down over the course of this five minute mix as TEED's new bed bears down brilliantly from start to finish. There is no big pay off per se, but rather plenty of pleasing points throughout. TEED's playfulness constantly pushes "Save A Kiss" to the edge of pure groove power without ever actually abandoning the emotional, optimistic quality of the original. And it is this masterfully crafted middle ground that makes this mix so intriguing as it can be enjoyed both as an energizing earphone offering or mid-set dancefloor firestarter. It oozes with excellence and gives me a bit of a Robyn vibe, and I can't imagine anyone being upset about that. Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs - Face 2 Face Mix

Orlando Tobias Edward Higginbottom, better known by another four-part name, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (or TEED for short) shared an eclectic mix "for kitchen dancing in times of isolation" this past Friday. A mind-blowing melange, this "Face 2 Face Mix" features a host of electronic energizers sure to inspire some interesting dance moves. The grooves grow steadily through more world-type tracks in the open to the seriously jacking Bufiman "Blow Your Head" around the 15 minute mark. Dancing between disco and dark, acid-tinged tracks the next section really showcases TEED's diverse ear and the influences he brings to the fore in this mix. This diversity is perhaps best illustrated in the move from the powerful Anatolian folk techno track "Teleported" by Anunaku to the crisp, pristine piano-led and beautifully buoyant Bag Raiders remix from TEED himself. This theme of incredible movement and multiplicity continues through the second half, but rather than spoil any more of the "Face 2 Face Mix," I'll let you enjoy it unencumbered below.
