Truly one of the hottest producers in Canada and indeed the world at large, Bishu is back with another ingenious remix. Yesterday he teased us with a tweet showing him in a t-shirt that read "Rather be listening to [...] Smooth," captioned saying: new music tomorrow. Who would've thought it would actually be a remix of the Grammy winning Santana & Rob Thomas song, but here we are.
"Smooth" opens, like the music video, with a radio-esque rattle while the original slowly bleeds out into Bishu's brilliant atmospherics and percussion. Thomas' vocals still wind around, wriggling like an earworm, occasionally aided by the lush, latin love laid down by Santana. As always Bishu's brilliance reaches peak performance in his drops, which feature an onslaught of sounds and styles. While the first finds bleepy bursts and banging drums, there's also whirring synths and a penny whistle? And as if that weren't enough, the second drop gets an angelic intro from a choir, before bursting at the seams with effects. Finally we're led out of savvy mix of "Smooth" with the guitar riff that you'll no doubt be whistling to yourself all day. The fact that Bishu's gone from taking on Lil Wayne to Santana is a testament to his incredible abilities. Pick up this potent remix free here, and expect to hear it on Bump In The Hump.
