Michael Gray ft. Shelly Poole - Borderline (Dr Packer Remix)

Few can churn out remixes and edits the way prolific disco dealer Dr Packer can. In the last week alone he's satisfied our dance desires with a take on Haywoode's debut single "A Time Like This," an edit of Barbara Mason's "Another Man" as well as both a remix and dub version of Michael Gray's Shelly Poole led single "Borderline." The latter, out now on Altra Moda Music, is a sublime stomper. Its energy is sure to set the dance-floor ablaze, especially through its already driving original groove. That said the additional elements the genius that is Greg Packer adds to this extended mix bring a previously absent sheen. The strings, horns and percussion combine to set the weapon that is "Borderline" to stun, allowing listeners to strut with a crazy cool confidence. Like Hifi Sean's "Lost Without U," a track with which it shares many similarities, "Borderline" is an undeniable earworm worth countless listens and playlist additions. Angelov - Chero

Seeing a Solomun set, whether live in person or online via video, often ends in jaw-dropping wonderment. This is not simply a result of his own awesome productions, but also his Diynamic Music selections. Of the latter, today's post arises from a video clip of a Solomun set in which he plays "Chero," a track from Ukrainian producer Angelov's debut EP Cabora.

Released this past Friday, Cabora is a collection of four equally alluring techno tracks, and while the opener "Retrida" is an undeniable standout, I feel "Chero" shows the most promise in Angelov's upstart abilities. Wobbling to life, the pulse of this track is an animalistic one, almost mimicking the snort of a hog hunting for truffles. However as the track grows it becomes more clear that we're not dealing with creatures of this world but rather some alien outpost, especially evident as the slithering synths enter around the two minute mark. By three minute mark the gravity and chemistry of the additional synths offerings are enough to have you firmly affixed to the dance-floor, as though "Chero" has you locked in with a tractor beam. Angelov's masterful mix of these synths, the perfectly placed percussion and undeniable animal energy makes "Chero" a weapon of dance destruction. Get it now here.

Enlightened Listening for October 11

This week's edition of Enlightened Listening delivers a wide range of house records, highlighted by an ingenious album from Chris Lorenzo, from which we've already heard a number of singles but whose breadth truly makes it a masterpiece (see the likes of "Memories Fade," "Here Kitty," "Take Me As I Am" and "City Traffic"). There's also a couple exceedingly cool originals from the legendary likes of Flux Pavilion and Mat Zo, the former straying from his usual dubstep fare while the latter offers up an extended DnB joint.

That takes care of the final two releases in the playlist below, while things start with a fantastic remix from Bit Funk who once again showcases sublime sound design. That is followed by the latest David Penn/Defected release and just like like his "Big Love" remix this one is certain to get rinsed out endlessly thanks to its incredibly catchy craft-work. After that comes Phantoms' remix package for "Say It," which delivers dance-friendly energy on each of the three offerings. And that's exactly what we get with Max Styler's "Echo Over Me," a beat so powerful that your body will move uncontrollably.

In another unreal onslaught of power, YYVNG's debut on Botnek's World Famous Headquarters is sure to leave your head spinning. Finally, Syn Cole's "Cool With That" has captured my attention with simple, understated craftsmanship, particularly with the little bass riffs, but even more so the way it it all meshes with Golden Age's vocals.
