Four Unreleased Tracks I'm Still Waiting For...

As the summer has come and gone, four tracks have found themselves still at the front of my mind as I wait for their eventual release. In early July we got a taste of the power pairing of Tiga and Hudson Mohawke by way of their Hardcore Romance hit "Love Minus Zero." Along with that a mix for Annie Mac, which featured a few more of their collaborations "Time To Time" and "Tear Down The Walls." The former also appeared in Martyn Bootyspoon's mix for Crack Magazine, and I must say I can neither get enough of the track itself nor its placement in the mix. Find it below starting just before the hour twenty-nine mark and be sure to stick around as the subsequent synth-led tracks are equally sublime.

Jessie Ware - Alone (Toddla T Remix)

Last week marked the premiere of Toddla T's remix of Jessie Ware "Alone," via Mistajam on BBC Radio 1Xtra. Before I even heard it, I knew it was going to be absolutely delightful, and sure enough it is. There are very few, if any, that have the range and emotional expressiveness of Jessie Ware, whose third album Glasshouse is due out this Friday. Ware's impressive and intoxicating vocals are on full display with this third single, "Alone," and they've only been amplified by Toddla T's demanding dancehall grooves. Part of what makes the original version of "Alone" so incredible is the layered use of Ware's wailing, and again that comes through in spades in this new mix. It's got a gospel feel that works wonderfully with Toddla T's guiding touch. The instrumental breathes life into a tired body, uplifting and energizing listeners to dance longer and more freely. It's so full of love and spirit that I cannot help but use it over and over again. While I'm not a religious person in the usual sense, I would however say that tracks like this are my religion, bringing me again to one of my favourite ideas, that music is the magic of everyday life. weslee - Gassed (Yung Bae Remix)

Months ago weslee appeared on the internet with a debut production called "Gassed," which in turn became BBC Radio 1 and Mistajam's "Hottest Record In The World." After receiving a remix from TCTS earlier this month, it was again remixed, this time by disco darling Yung Bae. This isn't the first time Yung Bae's been featured on this blog (see here) and for good reason, there really is no one on the same level when it comes to deliriously delightful disco productions. This version couldn't be much further from the original, in fact essentially the only bit that remains intact is the vocals. Yung Bae gets the groove going with a grin inducing horn line, followed by a sublime synth line. It's fun and funky, the kind of stuff we've come to expect from the California kid. Throw it on and get the party started. FOLLOW WESLEE: FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER
