ahh ooh - Pre Flight Hype
Detroit DJ and Hebinomichi cofounder, ahh ooh is challenging his production skills by setting a deadline of a new beat every week. "Pre Flight Hype," the seventh edition of his Sketched series, brings more amped up and attacking qualities than the previous six. Of course he still uses his brand of acoustically inspired melody elements, but this time in a more club driven manner. It's got a bit of a rock anthem feel to it, despite being interlaced with attention grabbing electronic arcs. It might be unfair to compare, but certainly the opening groove and clapping snare starting about :24 reminded me of "Rock 'N' Roll Part 2." While "Pre Flight Hype" remains in beat form, there's no questioning its many qualities, and could definitely do well in a club setting. Like the others it's available absolutely free, get it here.FOLLOW AHH OOH: FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER

Valentine - Her (NRMN Remix)
Full of heart and feeling, "Her" from Kansas City kid, Valentine, has been received four remixes from Xavi, Halpe, Blake Skowron, and NRMN, of Hebinomichi fame. The latter, delivers delightful disco rhythms, injecting the original with deeper thumps imitating the heart palpitations that come along with such a moving remix. NRMN maintains much of the fanciful flourishes of the original, while dropping the overall tempo and filtering the vocals further, invoking a distance between the protagonist and the titular, "Her." Whereas Valentine's version is incredibly bright, bubbly and filled with an infectious energy, NRMN's version subverts those tropes with a more toned down, and tempered energy. It's as though NRMN's attempt at wooing "Her" is more deliberate and thought out, less brash and bold. However, it is still a hard hitting and potent production, and perhaps my favourite of the bunch.
The whole remix EP is available for free download via ToneDen, so I'll let you decide which version of "Her" you like best.

Hebinomichi Volume 3
I first came across Hebinomichi last summer, while searching for more music from local talent Pusher. Admittedly I still know very little about the label/crew/collective, but what I do know is that their now 3 compilation volumes are perhaps the most cohesive and forward thinking compilation albums I've ever heard. The first track I hard was Pusher's "Pluto!" but I was greatly impressed with two other tracks from their first volume, SteLouse and ahh-ooh "Sex Panther," and one of my all time favourites, the incredibly catchy "All This Time," from Curious Kontrol.
How Hebinomichi was able to get so many unbelievably talented, rising stars is beyond extraordinary. My passion Pusher's productions and DJing is obvious if you've ever heard any of my radio shows, but he's not the only Hebinomichi artist that has climbed into the top echelon of favourite artists. SteLouse, JAWZ (now KUGA) ill-esha and Grimecraft have all jumped up into my consciousness and I am always awaiting their next releases, a small sample of which you can hear after the break.
