Enlightenment For Your Ears: Dezza

Another Friday means it's time for another Enlightened Listening. This week's edition clocks in at just under four hours, running 55 tracks deep. Centred around albums from Dezza and OVERWERK, there's a trio of utterly infectious cuts from Jacques Greene, Todd Edwards and Folamour, as well as BIJOU's banging return to Night Bass (my favourite EP there in many months). Staying with the heavy stuff, the final four releases in the playlist, while diverse, each overflow with energy and bristle with bass. Returning to the top, the playlist opens with three-way collab "Ride Or Die," which I can almost guarantee will appear across year-end best-of lists. Boys Noize and Chily Gonzales is a potent pairing in itself, while Kelsey Lu's vocals are simply sublime. Finally, filling in the gaps are a fistful of remixes, including an immersive epic from Volen Sentir, and a trio of EPs from EMBRZ, HNTR and Afterlife. Stream the playlist, ordered for maximum flow, below and find each individual release at the bottom.

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Dezza & EMME - Getaway (djimboh Remix)

After drilling down on DnB by devoting 40 minutes to it on last week's show, we go even further this week with more than an hour of house and techno to start. Kicking Bump In The Hump into gear, the djimboh remix of Dezza and EMME's "Getaway" takes the first steps in the audio adventure that is tonight's episode. Fitting its name, the essence of "Getaway" appears in its soaring spirit, cruising either through the water or above the clouds. Equally telling of the theme of tonight's episode, its easy, infectious and moving qualities make it the perfect opener for tonight's odyssey, in which we'll hear HNTR's track of the same name. Stream "Getaway" below, get it from your preferred source here, and catch it on Bump In The Hump, live from 7-9 PM EST on Radio Humber, or after the fact on Mixcloud.

Enlightened Listening for January 15

If this week's edition of Enlightened Listening is any indication, 2021 is sure to be an incredible year for music. Here we have 20 new releases running 3 hr 33 min (repeating of course). But seriously, this playlist is overflowing with quality through its sensational singles and resplendent remixes. While I'm recommending each of these releases, there are a few special ones I need to note.

First, there's the magical compilation from All Day I Dream, then TSHA's tear continues with her remix of KUU. Another rockin' remix follows shortly thereafter as Marsh brings some mayhem to "Eternal Summer." And I guess remixes are the theme of the week as the trio of Metronomy, Autechre and Zach Witness take on Myd, SOPHIE and Armand Van Helden, respectively. Each incredible in their own right, these are three of the most unique and inspired remixes I've come across in months. Enjoy the weekly new music playlist below and find each individual release linked at the bottom. Cheers!
