DUCAT - Sky High 空高く

Last week Dutch future funk aficionado DUCAT polled his Twitter followers asking whether his next release should be the aforementioned future funk or vaportrap. It seems he had both ready to go, as little more than 24 hours later he had uploaded "Sky High 空高く." For those familiar with DUCAT (perhaps when I wrote about his "Time"), this track again nails his chilled out groove and spectacularly smooth sound design. It stays true to the vaportrap temperament, easing into your ears, laying you back onto a bed of billowy clouds. The "Sky High 空高く" sentiment continues to shine through with the soaring and sunny disposition of the jazzy guitar feels. And while those strings take the lead, the groove of the bass and tickling trap percussion play perfectly together, especially as supported by the cool synth chords. The whole track just oozes ease and warmth, and while it's not available for download yet, you can find it as part of his forthcoming vaportrap album. DUCAT - Time 時間

Over the last few days, Dutch producer DUCAT has been revealing tracks from his future funk EP A New Day. The most recent release "Time 時間" is a masterful mix of moonlight love and jazzy house feels. The lead line oozes with a love you can only get from this combination of synthesized sounds and organic instruments. It glides along smoothly, guided by the funky bass groove and delightful disco dazzle. It's full of heart and just pure pleasure, giving me a warm, tingly feeling from my toes to the top of head. The whole EP is shaping up really nicely, and I'm quite excited to hear the rest of it in the coming days. I would also recommend testing out the triumphant "PokéFunkTrap" track "Victory Road."
UPDATE: The EP is out now. Get it free via Bandcamp here.
