Bwana Live At Fabric (AUSCAST)

On September 23rd, Toronto talent and now Berlin boy Bwana took to the hallowed Fabric decks to open up the legendary London club, ahead of both Deetron and Dusky. The extended set (just shy of three hours) allowed for an incredible breadth of beats including everything from chill club, to acid, house, techno and more. And better for us, the epic live set was recorded and has now been shared by Aus Music as the 5th installment of their AUSCAST series.

As Bwana says in the brief interview description, he was able to play out some of his personal favourites: Brian Eno, Bjork and Martyn's incredible "Bittersweet" remix of Efdemin "Acid Bells." And all of that comes in the first 30 minutes. The following two plus hours continue this grand journey through sound. He touches on Bollywood with "Apni To Jaise Taise," which is just wickedly fun, but even more so he mixes it into some super acid before returning to a more typical techno bass groove.

If there's a single connecting thread in Bwana's set it's the ease of movement through genres while continuing to come back to live, acoustic sounds. Whether it's a real bass, brass or even a whistle, Bwana never goes full electronic techno, it always feels real and human. Even at the deepest, darkest moments of his set he is always ready with the salve or counterpoint to keep you on your toes. While there's probably a dozen or more tracks you've never heard, nothing sticks out like a black sheep or sore thumb, it maintains cohesiveness throughout allowing for easy dance-ability. And yes, there's a number of unreleased Bwana bits in the mix, just in case there wasn't enough to entice you already.FOLLOW BWANA: FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Daphni - Tin

Last year we saw Bwana build a track around a Taylor Swift sample for FACT Magazine's "Against The Clock." And there's no doubt strong female vocal samples are gold in electronic music. So could I interest you in one from Mariah Carey, reworked by Dan Snaith as Daphni? The mind behind Caribou takes 2005's "We Belong Together," and gives it a glorious, throbbing groove. The Mariah sample has a siren-like allure, making "Tin" an inescapable sonic web. All this about the vocals isn't to take anything from the production. Each click, clack, drum smack, scratch, is tuned and mixed brilliantly. In the end however, it's the subtle progressions and transitions, and continuous movement that makes "Tin" such a standout track in my ears. Stream below, and catch it on Bump In The Hump tonight."Tin" joins a wide array of genres and styles represented on Bump In The Hump tonight. There's house, future bass, dubstep, techno, moombahton, bass house and trance. There's lots of Toronto talent including HolloH, Hudson Alexander, and Dzeko, a track from Rezz's forthcoming debut album, plus two exciting premieres from Blansh and Eff That. All that, and more, live from 6-7 PM EDT on Radio Humber.

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: CYMN - Dominium

After first appearing on Bump In The Hump with "Breatharian" in October, Montreal's CYMN has become a staple of the show. He continually delivers deep house at its best, and that's exactly what he's done here with his latest "Dominium." The equally gritty and grimy, get-down is sure to throw some serious thumps your direction, as the multiple levels of bass blast out of your speakers. As with the majority of his releases, this too is available for free download from both the Artist Union and ToneDen. CYMN joins the hour of new Canadian electronic music on Bump In The Hump tonight. Hear "Dominium" alongside tech, house, DnB, and whatever you want to call Pham's remix of "Easy Go." There's exclusive premieres from both Frustra and Blansh, plus tracks from both Tiga and Bwana's brand new EPs. Catch it all live tonight on Radio Humber from 6-7 PM EDT, here.

First Of The Year: Sneak Peek at 2017 Premieres of Bump In The Hump and My Mixtape featuring ClassyVlassy

Tonight marks the 2017 return of both Bump In The Hump and My Mixtape on 96.9 FM Radio Humber. Bump In The Hump will be a special two hour episode, as we enjoy a small serving of the cornucopia of tracks released over the two week winter hiatus. There were a number of bootlegs and special tracks released because of the holidays, including tracks from both Bwana and Lunice via LuckyMe's yearly Advent calendar, a Christmas themed track from Venetian Snares, and CRaymak's bootleg of Skrillex "First Of The Year." Enjoy the reworked version below and download it via ToneDen here. Following the two hour premiere of Bump In The Hump, I'll be handing the decks over to Colin Vlasak, co-founder FUXWITHIT, aka ClassyVlassy. You'll first hear 10 minutes of our conversation, as he introduces himself, his blog, and previews his mix. I'll also be posting our full, 30+ minute conversation, entirely uncut, on Monday. But back to his mix. It features the likes of Zeds Dead, Autoerotique, Ekali, Rezz, Whipped Cream and more, as you can tell running through various genres and BPMs. It's clear Colin has his finger on the pulse, so I'm proud to kick off the 2017 My Mixtape year in his capable hands. Check out FUXWITHIT and his latest mix, "Don't Know How To Relax" to get a better idea of the kind of hype music you can expect to hear during his episode of My Mixtape. Three hours of continuous Canadian electronic music starts at 9 PM EST with Bump In The Hump, then My Mixtape at 11. Stream both via www.radio.humber.ca, follow me as I live tweet @OggieJames, find tracklists on this blog and download ClassyVlassy's mix after it airs tonight.

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Carson Teal EP and Bedroomer ∞ Duality

This week on Bump In The Hump, I've got a track from Carson Teal's debut, eponymous EP, set to close out the night as the weekend warm up. Carson will be spinning alongside fellow Bedroomers: Hudson Alexander, Kare, Internet Daughter, Eytan Tobin, Burglar and special guests: moistbreezy, AudioOpera, Abby and Viscera, for Bedroomer's Duality Halloween party, Friday night at Rally. It looks to be an all night party (9pm-5am), in which costumes are recommended, and you're asked to pick sides between Singularity and Viscerality, although I'm sure you're allowed to go back and forth. If you want more info, check out the event page on facebook, and stream Carson Teal's EP below. Which track from the above EP you'll hear tonight I'm going to keep a secret until the tracklist goes live at 6, but I will give you a hint that a certain new Netflix show shares part of its title. Other tracks on tonight's episode of Bump In The Hump include new Bwana, Stephen Walking, Ramzoid, Excision and Jacques Greene. Stream the hour of brand new Canadian electronic music live on Radio Humber from 6-7 PM EDT, here.
