Throwback Thursday: Lazy Rich

This past weekend, one of the most important producers in bringing me into the electronic music scene decided to call it quits. Lazy Rich announced Saturday evening that he would give up gigging after New Years Eve. This is crushing, as despite my fandom, I've never been able to take in a Lazy Rich set first hand, and while we can hope that he goes back on his word, he has not closed the door on future productions. He's also stated that he will stay on with his label Big Fish Recordings, and maintain his roles with both Label Engine and Create Music. All this being said I figured it was appropriate to share a small sampling of my favourite Lazy Rich productions and some of the remixes they inspired.

While the playlist below contains 15 tracks, it really is a small sampling of Lazy Rich's enormous catalog which (while incomplete also includes duplicates) contains over 500 tracks on Beatport and reaches back to 2007. His impact cannot be overstated, whether through his productions alone or his work with the aforementioned trio of behind the scenes roles. His work within the electro house scene is immeasurable; just a quick scroll through his feed shows countless artists reaching out and thanking him for his role in, either directly or indirectly, influencing them.

While electro is gritty and raw, his tracks always had a undeniable polish and funky dance-able feel. Just one listen to the first track below "Disco Rocking" illustrates that perfectly. Later his work with vocalists (be them originals or remixes) further showed his ability to pair his power with poignant emotion. More recently he left the comfortable confines of 128 BPM to explore new worlds, and seemingly no matter who or what he worked with, success was guaranteed.

When I first came into dance music, it was always about pairing power with a tune you could dance to and no one did this quite like Lazy Rich. Finally, I leave you to enjoy the three handfuls of my favourites below. Be sure to check out more of his illustrious library, and follow his socials at the bottom.FOLLOW LAZY RICH: FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Death From Above - Black History Month (Alan Braxe & Fred Falke Remix)

Instead of teasing with the normal new content (I'm going to leave that all hidden for now), I've instead opted to excite with one part of this episode's Weekend Warmup. As you may already know, Toronto's own Death From Above are playing Friday and Saturday at The Phoenix Concert Theatre (RSVP/Tickets: 1st and 2nd). The duo of Sebastien Grainger and Jesse F. Keeler (also of MSTRKRFT) are coming off the release of their album Outrage! is Now, however once again I'm looking at their older stuff, particularly the awesome duo of Alan Braxe and Fred Falke. I'll be playing their mix of "Black History Month" as the first half of the Weekend Warmup on this episode of Bump In The Hump. Stream below. Also on tonight's episode, I've got a double dose of trance to start, an intoxicating remix of Tiga's "Woke," followed by the absolute brilliance of ASHE and his track "Little King." We then get into deep house and disco vibes, before flipping things into the trap, with bass bangers from the likes of WHIPPED CREAM and Krayysh, followed by a flurry of dubstep. We round things out with the Fire Finale from BLANSH, who graces Bump In The Hump for the third week in a row. The episode runs live from 6-8 PM EST via Radio Humber here, and can be streamed after the fact via Mixcloud.

60th Grammy Awards (Nominees)

The Grammys will celebrate their 60th anniversary this coming January in New York, and today they've released their list of nominees (full list here). Once again I debated whether a post was warranted, and since you're reading this I decided it in fact was (see my debate from last year). However this year I've decided to hold off on the predictions for now, and really just dig into the nominations themselves. Of course I'm not going to tackle all of the categories, just those I see pertinent to this blog.

Best Dance Recording
Firstly, I find it interesting that both Gorillaz and LCD Soundsytem's albums were nominated in the Alternative category, yet their tracks are classified as Dance. Let us however note that their is no Alternative Recording category. Also it might be pertinent that in 2003 this category fell under the Pop field before the creation of this Dance field. I feel this only further complicates Alternative productions being in a previously Pop field, but perhaps the Grammys feel that Dance is Alternative.

Regardless, both artists had big years, particularly in that they made massively anticipated returns, and therefore ought to warrant some kind of acknowledgement. I would however argue that neither of these are their best efforts. For my ears, "Submission" and "Other Voices" are the standout tracks from Humanz and American Dream, respectively.

Another artist who had a big year was Bonobo. His album Migration (also nominated below) garnered widespread support, and while I am more than fine with him receiving a nod here, I'd again suggest that this wasn't even the best track on the album. I'd submit "No Reason" as the zenith, but picking just one cut from Migration serves as a tough task, and I cannot be too critical here.

I'm glad the Grammys have nominated a house track, and I quite enjoy "Cola." I am however curious where more widespread and progressive (not in sub-genre, but in scope) house tunes are, see Tchami, Kolsch or Bicep. Regardless, Camelphat and Elderbrook have built an incredible track worthy of this honour.

Speaking of progressive, there aren't many as cutting edge as Odesza. While most would point to Flume and Rustie as originators of future bass, you'd be remiss not to include Odesza in that conversation. I would however argue that this particular brand of future bass, is quickly becoming stale and purely pop music. But this is the Grammys and it would be silly to expect them to be ahead of the curve.

Finally I wonder whether Dance is a cumbersome category name, isn't all music meant to make you move, and isn't moving to music dancing?

Best Dance/Electronic Album
You'll notice that both Bonobo and Odesza are holdovers from the Recording category, and as above both received widespread critical acclaim. While I was tough on "Line Of Sight" I feel the rest of Odesza's album makes up for the mainstream, pop feels of that particular track. Both Migration and A Moment Apart are strong albums, with incredible arcs, inciting waves of feels and emotions. Worthy nominees in my mind, especially in A Moment Apartas I get some distinct Pink Floyd vibes.

While there's no questioning Kraftwerk's greatness, or legendary status, I find their album somewhat troublesome to include here. One it's live, two it's almost entirely made of their previous productions. This seems unfair, but it is what it is. Certainly not the first time the Grammys have thrown a wrench into this category. Regardless, it's an incredible piece of production, especially in the way it's mixed.

My love for Mura Masa and his album will not be new to readers of this blog, so it's no surprise I agree with its inclusion. It's the perfect mixture of forward thinking club music and pop production abilities. The vocal features are fantastic and the whole thing just grooves through and through. On the opposite end of the scale is Sylvan Esso, who I've not heard of until today. Not surprising though, cause as I say, this seems to happen every year in this category. I will say that after listening to What Now I can kind of understand why it would be nominated: it's an eclectic mix of all kinds of electronic. It is well done, and will certainly have me keeping my eyes/ears on them in the future.

Best Remixed Recording
The first time in three years that both RAC and Kaskade are not in this category, so it's good to see some fresh faces. It's also a great mix, there's old school electronic dance via Louie Vega and SMLE, a big time banger from Adventure Club, an epic piece of electronica courtesy Four Tet, and some dirty house from Latroit. I really like this category, although I do wonder about SMLE's inclusion, as I cannot find any instance (spotify, soundcloud, youtube etc) that shows it as having garnered much attention. I know it's not a popularity contest (and this has happened before, see Paul McCartney in last year's nominees), but you'd think with the number of worthy remixes out there, they'd be able to find one with both a wide reach and strong musical depth. While categories cannot be perfect, and I don't claim this one to be, I feel this is the best we could expect, and perhaps the best since 2013.

That's it for me for now, I'll be back with a predictions post, with my usual write in nominees later.

Joris Voorn - Goodbye Fly 2K17 (KiTT Remode)

Joris Voorn's 2012 classic "Goodbye Fly" just got a groovy update from Czech producer KiTT. Where the original eased into the epic bouncy bass, amidst Voorn's trademark tech talent, KiTT keeps it at the forefront nearly the entire time, only allowing for brief breathers before the booming returns.

This is really a wicked club tool, signifying the times where (at least in my purview) extended tech pieces have fallen out of favour. The crowds demand more and more and faster and faster; and this track delivers just that. It still maintains the brilliance that made the original so iconic (the drums, the vocal samples, and the shimmering synths), just more compacted and bigger. It's a perfect fit for those DJs that want to pay homage to the classics of yesteryear, but need to still need to satisfy the swarms. Now, I don't mean to say that this makes for lesser or inferior productions, just a different delivery, and in the case of "Goodbye Fly," I'm more likely to seek out this version. Maybe I'm just like the impatient millennials, but I'll push back by professing my love for extended/12" remixes and edits. Whatever the case, you can most certainly get your groove on by yourself (pun intended as "Goodbye Fly 2K17" is hosted by The Groove Cartel), or dazzle on the decks with a free download from The Husk here.FOLLOW KITT: FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER

Holly & Dirty Ducks - Funky Farm

Holly has got to be the hardest, or at least fastest, working producer in the game. Just last week he released Maggie Love, and yesterday dropped his Beat Tape Vol.89. Now today he makes his debut on Revealed Recordings alongside Dirty Ducks. With Holly's vast library, we've heard him take on just about every genre/style known to man, this collaboration coming in the form of a festival/club banger. "Funky Farm" has both the wild animal nature and large cast of creatures that fit its name perfectly. The vocalizations and breakbeats will have the whole barnyard bouncing up and down, in a crazy critter ceremony of sorts. All of this natural beastly brilliance is wrapped around an awesome electronic design that should satisfy even the most staunch techno purist. Post Malone ft. 21 Savage - Rockstar (StéLouse's "Soundcloud '14 4eva" Flip)

Thursday afternoon StéLouse teased us saying he'd been sitting on "two versions of this official Rockstar remix."  Yesterday afternoon he left the teasing alone and shared his "Soundcloud '14 4eva" flip. The mix is a tribute to his favourite era of Soundcloud, featuring "floomed out synths and Portered up drops." I also point to this time as one of my favourites, certainly in terms of it seeing the explosion of future bass, when it was really fresh, and maybe even before that troublesome term was coined.  I'm not sure it holds the same nostalgia as bloghaus, but we're obviously not that far removed; perhaps in a few more years we'll be clamouring for more like this. And this is very good. It's probably about the same time I first heard StéLouse, and certainly reminds me of his earlier stuff, albeit more tempered, so as to fit with Post Malone's flow. The production that makes the original so popular still rings true in this temporal re-positioning, so you can still easily sing along, while the rolling drums and wavering synths will have you getting down for sure. Whether his more singer/songwriter focused productions (Sociopath or Bones) or blistering future bass bangers, it's clear StéLouse is a force to be reckoned with. While "Rockstar" isn't available for download, StéLouse is headed on tour, so you'll certainly have your chance to hear this played out on a big system. Find your nearest show here.

UPDATE: The track was removed rather quickly, but today has been re-uploaded as a cover with help from Nashville's Still Haze and Los Angeles' Manus. Still no download however, so enjoy the stream.FOLLOW STÉLOUSE: FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER

Airuei - Heck

Early this year the world got a glimpse of Airuei's genius with his track "Heck." This week it has since been re-uploaded to his secondary account, succducc. Oddly enough this account actually has more followers than his main and perhaps it's uploads like this that have garnered such attention.

"Heck" was one of the first songs I pressed play on in my feed this morning and while I proceeded to check my email, its allure washed over me. As the soaring synths soured towards the minute mark and the switch-up slams in, this is when I knew it was a five star stunner. It succeeds with absolutely intoxicating sound design throughout; the warbling synth to start, the rapid fire, scrubbing, trap-style drop, and the skyward spiraling second half, all amaze. The melodies are pure magic, especially in the way Airuei pairs them with pristine percussion. It's the ringing drum work that seals the first drop as one of the dopest you'll ever hear; it's just so satisfying while being brilliantly bent and oh so awry. And while I'm continually awed by the drop, the whole track fills me with such joy and faith that future bass, and music as a whole, can still be fantastically fresh and fun. Make sure you grab the free download here.FOLLOW AIRUEI: FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER

A Soundcloud Sampler

After taking the day off to enjoy an impromptu American Thanksgiving with my friends from university, and then taking in Ekali, josh pan and Y2K, I missed a whole bunch of music, and intend to make up for that here. Instead of doing a long piece or two, I'm going to quickly tackle 9 'new' tracks I came across this morning. It really is a Soundcloud sampler, running the gamut of genres and styles that Soundcloud has become known for. There's some typical "Dance & EDM," some trap, some ambient, some house, nxc and more. So here we are, nine tracks in no particular order with a quick sentence or two about each below. Also note that those I've placed an asterisk beside are available for free download.cool tweens - life
Careful not to trip on the uber awesome vocal chops, even though this uplifting number will have you back on your feet in no time. The usual onslaught of energy we've come to expect from Cool Tweens.

2 Wasted & Lutez - Lay It Down (ft. Gabe Xavier)
Equally intoxicating guitar and vocals already have your head spinning before the drop has you puking in the toilet. Good times.

Wizard - Something Going On (w/ E$$AY)*
Hazy waves of chill trap grooves lead into an awesome progressive finale. Brilliant beat work.

sylcmyk - November
No matter how you feel about the month itself, you'll fall for this track. Beyond beautiful ambiance.

Marry Us - L'Étranger*
Somehow manages to make future bass feel fresh and new again. Pristine and playful production.

DI33GO & Chris Albert - Dancing Life*
Can't quite put my finger on what track I'm reminded of, but I definitely like the feeling it gives me. Pairs some pretty piano with a wicked groovy drop. Definitely dance worthy.

NAUUDA - party*
More magical ambiance, especially as the wonky tones and drums dazzle. Quite the cool craft-work.

Styline - What You Want*
Ever growing dance grooves will walk you out onto the dance-floor, even if you don't have an ounce of rhythm in your body. You'll be waving back and forth with the rest of the crowd in no time.

GAWS THE GREAT - Seen
Trippy little number that succeeds on several levels. Undefinable awesomeness. Perhaps the best example of the strength of Soundcloud; it's challenging and unquestionably cool in its inventiveness.

Bump In The Hump: November 22 (Season 7, Episode 8)

Tracklist

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Hanz Ford - Enlightenment Takes Wattage EP

We first heard from the man most often known as Hanz Ford, when he released his track made for the deadmau5 Masterclass "Follow The Rawbit," albeit under his more tempered pseudonym RoHawn. Shortly after that we went 3 weeks in a row with progressively deeper and darker tracks from the heavy hitting Hanz Ford. Now this week he released his first EP, Enlightenment Takes Wattage, which pits Alan Watts voice-over on top of equally penetrating productions. The ideals of Eastern Philosophy work well with the penetrating bass, destroying personal identity so as to achieve higher consciousness. As a big fan of Pink Floyd, and someone who finds this kind of deep thought sadly absent from the vast majority of electronic music, I'm over the moon that we've finally got some truly smart and thought-provoking music. Stream the EP below, and catch one of the tracks on Bump In The Hump tonight. But perhaps you just want to shut your brain off and dance, and not to fear, I've got some brain-dead bangers as well. As always Bump In The Hump gradually picks up steam running through a healthy serving of house from Sultan + Shepard through to Bobby Love's remix of the legendary Giorgio Moroder. The legends just keep on coming as Pomo takes on Hall & Oates, and how about a G-House remix of RL Grime? There's also new Keys N Krates and the long awaited TroyBoi, Ekali collab. We've even got some psy-trance, so yeah it's safe to say we've got it all. Get in on the madness fro, 6-8 PM EST live via Radio Humber here and after the fact on Mixcloud, here.

underscores - pause

Soundcloud is a great source for new music, that sometimes feels overpopulated with the same old, same old, whether pop or imitation. Other times Soundcloud's beautiful, artistic and creative side shines though. Not far into my scroll this morning I came across the latter, as less than half a minute into "pause," San Francisco's underscores had my head spinning. He proceeds to take this 3:33 track in every direction, making sharp turns at every option. Not to say these that these flips aren't jarring, but they actually work strikingly well as evolutionary counters. Each subsequent section is as melodically alluring as the last, allowing the jazzy nature to quickly coalesce and enchant. However, we still haven't touched on the killer cherry on top, making this the most sublime sundae of a 'song.' The most clear example of underscore's brilliance in "pause" comes in his sound design: the grinding "aah" sound at the opening, the clinking bottles, the rattling and rolling tin can, and best of all, the multiple and diverse uses of the babbling baby. This truly is a genius production through and through, it's literally and figuratively sensational, somehow managing to align disparate beats into one delectable design.Download "pause" for free here, and check out his other projects: six impala and curryrice.

msft - FML

Italian trap producer msft (pronounced misfit) just dropped some knowledge on EVANE Collective with the track "FML." Despite the dark despair of the cover image and the title, the track inspires a strength and bravado with its buoyant bass bonks, rising rounds of sparkles and glorious guffaws (a la Ganon in Zelda II). It's a great big groove and definitely dance worthy track, one I expect would demand the whole dance floor get down. Sunday Disco Delights

Yada yada yada, I love disco. Disco, disco, disco. There's nothing that I go to more frequently or enjoy so unabashedly as much as disco. Whether it's the strings and things, funky bass, gooey grooves, loving lyrics or just the anything goes ethos, I just cannot get enough of disco old and new. It's just the perfect mixture of live elements with repetitive electronic grooves. Today I've decided that I ought to showcase a small sampling of some of my favourites of the moment, from some of my most trusted sources. There's the ever awesome and expanding library of Funkingham (specifically Pimpin Willie) remixing the sublime Sade, the preeminent Dimitri From Paris, and supreme being SanFranDisko. The other two tracks are just as juicy and jam worthy; Cordycep I found through Greg Wilson and the "Everybody Dance" edit comes courtesy Dimitri From Paris, who referred to it as his all-time favourite. I leave you now to enjoy these disco delights and hope they give you strength this Sunday.Note that every other track is available for free download. Don't sleep!

DUCAT - Time 時間

Over the last few days, Dutch producer DUCAT has been revealing tracks from his future funk EP A New Day. The most recent release "Time 時間" is a masterful mix of moonlight love and jazzy house feels. The lead line oozes with a love you can only get from this combination of synthesized sounds and organic instruments. It glides along smoothly, guided by the funky bass groove and delightful disco dazzle. It's full of heart and just pure pleasure, giving me a warm, tingly feeling from my toes to the top of head. The whole EP is shaping up really nicely, and I'm quite excited to hear the rest of it in the coming days. I would also recommend testing out the triumphant "PokéFunkTrap" track "Victory Road."

Element - Augustine

Can trap be touching, emotional and an epic banger at the same time? After hearing Element's "Augustine" the answer is a resounding yes. The impetus behind the track is a heartbreaking one, as it was made while watching over his grandmother in the ICU. This knowledge only amplifies the already chilling choral elements as the darkness surrounds them. It's all done with such aplomb, allowing both the optimism of recovery and the unmistakable despair of such a circumstance to play out. I hesitate to get into more musical specifics, as I fear it would take away from the sheer power, emotional and otherwise, of such an incredible piece of artistry. LO'99 ft. Elizabeth Rose - From The Start (rrotik Remix)

In the last few months Brazil based producer rrotik has been catching my ear with brilliant bass heavy productions. This week his remix of LO'99 and Elizabeth Rose's "From The Start" got a release, and once again his touch has me doing a double take. It's a dark and hazy track right from the get go, and really only gets murkier and even more morbid as it progresses. The bass, which of course plays the lead role in rrotik's productions, is incredibly well tuned, and layered masterfully. I keep coming back to this image of a gurgling, oozing and enveloping pit of putrid slime. It's like a bog monster slowly sucking Elizabeth Rose into its ever growing grotesqueness. While I'm using all of these words with generally negative connotations, I mean nothing but positive praise. This is an incredibly potent production, just what I've come to expect from rrotik. Tracklist

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: BLANSH x Usica - Metal Licka

Bass badman BLANSH first appeared on Radio Humber some months ago, since then he's gone through a bit of a reboot, only upping his already incredibly fire fashion. This month is certainly set to be a game changer, as in the past 24 hours alone, he's dropped two new tracks, with a third set for release Nov. 29th. Like the forthcoming "Jet Lag" the track you'll hear on Bump In The Hump tonight, features' LA's Usica. "Metal Licka" hits like a lead pipe to the head, swung with the skill of a samurai. While bass house seems to be one of the more popular subgenres of the moment, I can truly say that I haven't come across such savage yet savvy production in months. Stream below and download free, here. This week's episode once again features some delightful disco house from the likes of Hatiras and CastNowski. After spending nearly all of my Sunday scrolling through Soundcloud, there's an incredible nine new artist debuts, ranging from future bass and trap, to DnB and dubstep. The new music also comes from Bump In The Hump regulars: A-Trak, Bishu, Chet Porter, Ekali and more. Santana ft. Rob Thomas - Smooth (Bishu Remix)

Truly one of the hottest producers in Canada and indeed the world at large, Bishu is back with another ingenious remix. Yesterday he teased us with a tweet showing him in a t-shirt that read "Rather be listening to [...] Smooth," captioned saying: new music tomorrow. Who would've thought it would actually be a remix of the Grammy winning Santana & Rob Thomas song, but here we are.

"Smooth" opens, like the music video, with a radio-esque rattle while the original slowly bleeds out into Bishu's brilliant atmospherics and percussion. Thomas' vocals still wind around, wriggling like an earworm, occasionally aided by the lush, latin love laid down by Santana. As always Bishu's brilliance reaches peak performance in his drops, which feature an onslaught of sounds and styles. While the first finds bleepy bursts and banging drums, there's also whirring synths and a penny whistle? And as if that weren't enough, the second drop gets an angelic intro from a choir, before bursting at the seams with effects. Finally we're led out of savvy mix of "Smooth" with the guitar riff that you'll no doubt be whistling to yourself all day. The fact that Bishu's gone from taking on Lil Wayne to Santana is a testament to his incredible abilities. Pick up this potent remix free here, and expect to hear it on Bump In The Hump.

Faux Chaux - Eyes On

British bass and house duo, Faux Chaux are about to have more ears and "Eyes On" them than ever before after their release on Fatstep Records. They've combined some bleepy future vibes with an ever growing bass throb that flips off in a furious groove. The G vocals add an ominous and sinister spin to the already threatening track. For me it feels as though it could fit into any of the bass house bosses (Malaa, AC Slater, etc) playlists, and would no doubt destroy a dance floor while welcoming a wave of screw faces. Piano&Specs - Sweet Dark Silence

Mashups can be maddening, especially if they feel chopped up and disjointed, but boy can they be brilliant if the pieces fit together. The latter is true with Hasting's duo Piano&Specs's first release in more than six months. "Sweet Dark Silence," is a combination of 4 tracks, the first being Vincent Price's voice-over from "Thriller," which sets the scene for the haunting uptempo track. The remaining three elements then take over as Piano&Specs use classic 1993 jungle track "Valley Of The Shadows" as the main musical bed. The Origin Unknown (Andy C/Ant Miles) track definitely deserves this renewed spotlight as it still shines strong with its sweltering heat. And this is really where Piano&Specs have managed to make the whole greater than the sum of its parts. The additional chords from Liquid's "Sweet Harmony" bring an incredible boost, shooting the song further skywards. But it wouldn't be a song without Sarah McLachlan's vocals from Delirium's "Silence." This mashup, despite it's nebulous name, is truly a match made in heaven; a radiant, reach for the sky sensation. Like the majority of their edits/mashups "Sweet Dark Silence" is available absolutely free.FOLLOW PIANO&SPECS: FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER

Lil Pump - Gucci Gang (headstone Edition)

Australian club and trap producer headstone has been making waves for a while now with releases on Jadū Dala, Shifty Rhythms and SIDECHAINS, which also warranted a NEST HQ premiere. This week he dropped a banging bootleg mix of Lil Pump's "Gucci Gang." While it has the same atmosphere as original to start, it's clear this version has way more oomph and club considerations than the aforementioned original. Not only has he made it more bad-ass through additional bass, breaks and effects, he's even made it bigger, upping the overall run-time by nearly 50%, and who wouldn't want to get wild to this killer club weapon. It absolutely slaps, while still satisfying those that have to sing along. While I'm here for the raucous rework (hadn't heard the original until today), I'm sure most of the clicks will be generated by Lil Pump fans. Whatever the case, you can cop the fire flip for free here.FOLLOW HEADSTONE: FACEBOOK SOUNDCLOUD TWITTER

Celadon City - Pastelparty

I've been a fan of Celadon City's Zelda-esque beauty ever since I heard his remix of Chet Porter's "tbh ily." Last month he debuted the first track from his upcoming album, Somehow We Will Get Through This, which is set to drop November 24th. Today he's treated us to the second single, entitled "Pastelparty." Celadon City indeed continues to craft some of the most tender and loving pieces of ear pleasing artwork you'll ever hear. The name "Pastelparty" is a perfect fit for the positively breathtaking beats and golden glow this track exudes. Whereas its predecessor "Nevermind" works more with percussion, "Pastelparty" succeeds through splendiferous strings and a more muted magic, almost as though it were a welcome respite, like the return to Pallet Town in the original Pokemon. Breathe in the beauty below and be sure to look out for the rest of the awesome album in the next two weeks.

Oof, this one hits right in the feels. It's been more than a decade since Justin Timberlake released his game changing, and now legendary album FutureSex/LoveSounds, and it's still spurring remixes/reworks/covers and just straight up spins on the radio and DJ decks alike. The latest loving tribute is a take on "What Goes Around... Comes Around," from Port St. Lucie producer, Sofasound and fellow Floridian, max fry. The swirling vocals and synths spin around your head, binding your brain to the sheer beauty of this new instrumental. The mixture of live element and trippy glitched out grooves is quite simply genius, especially in regards to the back and forth, dueling nature of not just this track, but the album as a whole. "Don't Think About It" is a delightfully dizzying reconstruction of a classic, that will undoubtedly earworm it's way into head for days to come. Bump In The Hump: November 8 (Season 7, Episode 6)

Tracklist

Bump In The Hump Sneak Peek: Sordid Soundz - That Disco Sound

The mere mention of Spacedisco gives me a good feeling. Really, what could be a better combination? Earlier this year we heard the absolutely incredible "After The Rain" from Demuir, on hometown hero Hatiras' label, and now today I've got, not one but, two new tracks from Spacedisco Records. Below is the latest release from Ian Donaldson, aka Sordid Soundz, and while he's relatively new release-wise, his musical background includes working with Bronski Beat. With that in mind it's clear to see he's got synth skills coming out the wazoo. "That Disco Sound" is sure to get you movin' and groovin'.Tonight's episode of Bump In The Hump is unlike any we've had before, and that's saying something considering the wide array of elements it always entails. It starts off epic in arc (the first 5 tracks running 35 minutes), before finding breakbeat, funk, dancehall, future bass, trap, garage, bassline and dubstep in the fire finale. There's remixes of big names like Nero, Notorious B.I.G. and even Kendrick Lamar. Plus there's the weekend warmup, in which I'll be looking ahead to RL Grime's set at The Danforth Music Hall, Saturday (RSVP/Tickets). Take part in the two hour extravaganza live on Radio Humber from 6-8 PM EST live here, or find the full upload after the fact via Mixcloud.

tv room - Now I Do

Cute chiptune pop continues to find a special place in my heart, so it's no surprise that it took just a few seconds for tv room's "Now I Do" to satisfy my soul. Of course it's incredibly bright, bubbly and oh so upbeat, like a bonus level in any Nintendo video game. And while it's driven by a toothsome top-line, it's not all just saccharine sweetness, there's a robust rhythm and funky groove. The onslaught of effects and sweeps are supremely satisfying, especially as tv room switches up the whole thing for the final fantastical quarter, as though the character has died and their soul floats towards the sky. The sheer number of sounds and elements is enough to leave your head spinning, but the fact that tv room also sings is insane. "I never thought it could be like this, but now I do." Brilliant.
